Do you remember when you first started your career? The lessons learned during that rite of passage stays with many of us to this day. We know that guiding the next generation towards those first steps and making sure they are equipped with the right skills and empowered to innovate, adapt and thrive at work is more important than ever. Apprenticeships are just one way that young people can gain real-world experience while studying for qualifications – and that’s how many young people begin their careers with us. That’s why this World Youth Skills Day, we want to celebrate the people who help to build the careers and confidence of young people throughout our Group, as everyone has a part to play, and many of our apprenticeship alumni go on to pay it forward, enjoying fulfilling careers in our Businesses. Last week at a gathering of Spirax Group leaders, Maria Wilson, Ph.D., Group Digital Director and sponsor of our LGBTQ+ and Friends Global Colleague Network, reminded leaders of the importance of psychological safety and how, by setting the conditions, we can make sure LGBTQ+ colleagues can feel seen, safe and welcome in line with our Group Inclusion Commitments, part of Spirax Group’s Everyone is Included plan.     Maria highlighted that across the Group we have LGBTQ+ colleagues who are out and thriving, because they consider our workplaces safe, safer than their homes or communities in some instances, but she also warned that in some locations colleagues do not yet feel able to come out at work because they don't see enough visible support or experience homophobia, biphobia or transphobia in their daily lives.      Over the next few of weeks, our LGBTQ+ and Friends Global Colleague Network is hosting its first ever ‘Pride Online’. A series of five webinars, run by colleagues from across Spirax Group to help LGBTQ+ colleagues feel safe (whether they are out at work or not) as well as to help all of us understand how to be better allies, because having psychologically safe workplaces for everyone is an essential part of Spirax Group.     The LGBTQ+ and Friends Global Network is one of six such networks which aim to bring colleagues together and to help everyone, everywhere across Spirax Group feel safe, seen, supported, empowered and connected.    Discover more about our Global Colleague Networks: https://lnkd.in/eJZYw5mT

Last night we announced the much-anticipated winners of our 2023 Spirit Awards. At our glimmering Spirit Awards Gala Celebration hosted by our Group Executive Committee, we named our six category winners who each represent one of our shared Group Values. We believe that everything we do matters. That’s why in 2022 we created the Spirit Awards, our internal awards programme designed to recognise our colleagues across Spirax Group that ‘elevate the everyday’.  Now in their second year, the Awards showcase all the ways our colleagues across the Group make their difference and live our Values to achieve our Purpose.  Our Values, Safety, Collaboration, Customer focus, Excellence, Respect and Integrity, are our organisational ‘glue’. Guiding our behaviours and choices, the way we do business and how we work together. Nominations are open to anyone across the Group. This year we received more than 300 entries. In keeping with our stand’s theme of ‘under the sea’ and our One Planet Sustainability Strategy, we were proud to support a session at the Cheltenham Science Festival yesterday focused on protecting our oceans.  Scientist Helen Czerski and science journalist Olive Heffernan explored how changing societies and evolving technologies shape the future of Earth’s last uninhabited regions and offered an insight into what we can all do to protect them during their ‘Oceans: Protecting Our Earth's Last Wilderness’ session. It’s official – we are now Spirax Group plc! At our recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 15 May, our shareholders voted in favour of completing an important step in our brand refresh, approving the change of our legally registered name, from Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc to Spirax Group plc, with the special resolution receiving 99.95% of the votes cast in favour. Since the AGM, we’ve been working through a series of steps to complete our legal entity transfer and yesterday, we have received the certificate from Companies House in the UK (where we are registered) confirming the process is now complete. Our new name and brand reflect our 136-year journey as well as who we are today - a Group of three strong solutions-focused Businesses, providing mission critical thermal energy and fluid technology solutions to customers in a diverse range of industrial sectors.  We are Spirax Group. United in our Purpose to engineer a more efficient, safer and sustainable world.
