The Mayor, Leader of the Council Daniel Cowan and Chair of the Southend City BID were among several community leaders out in the high street today giving out gifts to unsuspecting members of the public. Over 50 delighted visitors in Southend High Street were treated to an act of kindness which resulted in some wonderfully happy faces in our city centre! Huge thanks to Sainsbury's, The Body Shop and the Southend Pier and Railway for generously donating the gifts. #HateCrimeAwarenessWeek

Remembering Sir David Amess, MP, three years on. Daniel Cowan, Leader of the Council, says: “It is hard to believe it is three years since that terrible day which shocked our community and the whole nation, and our thoughts are with his family and friends who are still grieving their loss. “I was privileged to attend the remembrance service on Sunday which was a chance to respectfully remember Sir David and it is only right that the council also marks this solemn anniversary by lowering its flags at Porters and Civic Centre to half-mast.” Colin Ansell Claire Shuter Alan Richards MRICS Mark Harvey Michael Marks Susan Zeiss Suzanne Newman Adam Keating Adam Tregoning
