In #CelebratingCommunityServices week, we want to highlight the incredible contribution of #SocialEnterprise - delivering more than £1bn of vital #NHS care across the country, while reinvesting any profits in the communities they serve. Social enterprises' contribution to the NHS family is not always recognised, so we recently created a new programme for our health and social care members to build awareness and improve support. “I believe that my experience of where I grew up and my life and my friends’ lives helped me when I was working on propositions; I believe that investment committees have to be the same… We will make better decisions if we have people with a broader range of experience.” In the latest episode of ‘Investment Committees of The Future: in conversation’ our friends at Good Finance UK are joined by Matt Smith, Chief Executive of Key Fund, who cites that a diverse range of perspectives and expertise are the key factors that lead to better decisions being made by investment committees. Social Enterprise UK reposted this
We had a fantastic time attending the Labour Party Conference last week! It was a great opportunity to engage with key leaders and creatives to discuss the future of the digital and creative sectors. 💡✨ We welcomed two brilliant events to the Creative Campus from Social Enterprise UK, Future Economy Alliance and Power to Change Our own CEO Lynn Haime joined the morning panel at Social Enterprise UK's breakfast event to discuss how social enterprises can help tackle inequality in Britain. Chaired by Baroness Glenys Thornton, the panel also featured: Peter Holbrook CBE (Social Enterprise UK) Erika Rushton (Kindred LCR) Patricia Hamzahee FRSA (Black Funding Network). They had a great discussion about social enterprise in Liverpool and its role in addressing inequality across economic, geographical, gender, and racial lines. 💬⚖️ In the afternoon, the Power to Change event featured: Tim Davies-Pugh (Power to Change) Erika Rushton (Kindred LCR) Sally-Anne Watkiss (Homebaked Bakery) Alex Norris (Minister for Democracy and Local Growth) Liam Kelly (Make CIC). They talked about their projects and the challenges they face, particularly around funding and buying property for community-led regeneration. Thanks to everyone who joined us for these important conversations on regeneration and the actions we can take to make a real difference! 👏
