How to accelerate the just transition? Do we even know what it means, and what it takes? Can we work together to reframe the narrative on impact investing so that more money shifts from investing in what harms people and planet, to fostering the growth of a new, positive, fair and green economy? What tools can we use to amplify, accelerate and unite stakeholders behind a common vision of a prosperous and hopeful future? Those and other questions were at the heart of the conversations at the Impact Europe conference and 20th anniversary celebration. Having been involved with the original EVPA (now renamed Impact Europe) from its beginning, which made me feel really old… it was great to acknowledge how far we have come in 20 years – and, equally and more importantly, the transformation which still needs to happen. It was refreshing to hear from so many peers, colleagues and from the founders of EVPA Douglas Miller, Stephen Dawson and Luciano Balbo. I won’t do justice in mentioning everyone and every story which inspired me, for sure. Everyone there was committed to using the tools of investment to build a future that respects life – both human and nature. I loved hearing from Roberta Bosurgi and her colleagues at Impact Europe and from our hosts at The Human Safety Net and the beautiful work they do with refugee families, from Leslie Johnston, M.Sc. and how the Laudes Foundation is working systemically on the just transition, from Daniel Brewer at Resonance Limited, with head and heart in the right place in housing the homeless, from Teresa Guardans and Sebastian Waldburg with Oryx, an impact fund of funds investing in Africa, from Deirdre Mortell, growing the ecosystem of impact in Ireland, from Marco Gerevini and the work of Fondazione Cariplo in Italy, from Dr. Markus Freiburg and the work of the Financing Agency for Social Entrepreneurship, from Kim Smouter and his work with the ENAR Foundation - European Network Against Racism Foundation, from meeting other Responsible Leaders from the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt – and from so many others! #impactinvesting #justtransition #WorldChangingReturns #SDGs #greeneconomy #sustainability Snowball

"Lead, not lag". This was the call to action made by Clara Miller, the former President of The Heron Foundation to decision-makers at charitable foundations to align their investments with their social and environmental purpose. Learn more about the progress that has been made by the sector since in a joint blog by Laura Boyle and Matthew Mannix on the NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) website. NPC have also published a new case study about the journey MONDAY CHARITABLE TRUST have recently taken to invest for impact, risk and return. #WorldChangingReturns EIRIS Foundation, Friends Provident Foundation, Toniic, Peter Webster, Danielle Walker-Palmour, Lisa Stonestreet, Impact Europe, Association of Charitable Foundations, Philanthropy Impact, C. 🌟 Aligning endowments in pursuit of impact🌟 It is imperative that Foundation (and charity) assets/endowments be invested in line with an organisation's charitable mission, as demonstrated by leading foundations globally and in the UK. NPC have been championing this for a long time as best practice in the sector (https://lnkd.in/esQeSTev), and we are very proud of our client, the MONDAY CHARITABLE TRUST, who have taken a big step forward in using all their assets for making an impact. NPC recently worked with the Monday Charitable Trust to develop an impact investment strategy and an investment policy statement that allows trustees to consider impact investments. We undertook an analysis of the impact investing landscape for their priority impact themes to showcase the depth and breadth of impactful investment opportunities available to them. We're glad to note MCT's commitment to allocate a portion of their endowment for making impact investments and hope that they are followed by other foundations and charities. For more information, please read the case study on our website: https://lnkd.in/encCQVyP or get in touch with our impact investing team.
