Delighted Simply Racing UK is involved in supporting Women In Racing on the groundbreaking Racing Forward project. The prospect of collaborating with formidable names in Formula 1 and sailing to challenge and change entrenched biases can only accelerate the breakdown of barriers. Racing Forward is a pioneering initiative uniting horse racing, sailing, and motor racing to examine how equipment and environmental design impact gender biases in performance and health. This collaborative research effort will drive toward gender equity by developing insights that enhance safety, performance, and overall experience for athletes across these dynamic sports. Key focus areas include optimising equipment for women, from breast protection and ergonomic design tailored to female anatomy to establishing an evidence base that informs product development across multiple sporting disciplines. Mighty oaks from little acorns grow 🌳 🏇 Slade Steel is a breeder's dream. He is stunning to look at, has won a Grade 1 at Cheltenham and has speed and courage. Would that have been apparent from his first few months? Actually no, he was nice to look at, but not remarkable. He just went on improving. Fast-forward six years, and the dream begins again with his Poet’s Word brother, BoSS (Brother of Slade Steel). What they have in common is a mother, Mariet, who blends discipline with encouragement and love. There is a message here somewhere. It was such an enjoyable experience to be part of the recent 2024 AGM and Spring Showcase hosted by the Women’s Irish Network for Racing, sponsored by Whitney Moore. It was both fun and an honour to share the stage with some trailblazing figures in the racing world. Sometimes when you meet your racing heroes they actually prove to be better than you could imagine and to be on a panel focusing on career change with Johnny Murtagh, Patrick Mullins, and Anthea Leigh who was the first professional female jockey to ride a winner over the Grand National fences was really inspiring. A heartfelt thank you to all those involved in organising this well attended initiative, especially the outgoing Chair, Clodagh Kavanagh, for her exceptional leadership and dedication, and to the incoming Chair, Sarah McNicholas who’s business pedigree and vision will be a welcome addition. Absolutely thrilled to announce my participation in the ICE London 2024 gaming conference at the ExCeL London on 7th February 2024.
