About us
Services for Young People is part of Hertfordshire County Council and delivers youth work projects and programmes, information, advice, guidance, work-related learning, outdoor education and other services to young people in Hertfordshire. Our Personal Advisers and Youth Workers are professionally trained to provide the highest level of support and work closely with partners to provide counselling, mentoring and access to other services. We run a wide range of youth work projects across the county in which young people can get involved. Through these projects they meet new people, learn new skills and take part in challenging opportunities. They are encouraged to develop their personal and social skills by taking part in activities including sports, drama, dance, music, workshops, outdoor education, DofE, forums, residentials and volunteering. We help young people with the issues which are important to them such as jobs, careers and education, relationships, sexual health, confidence, self-esteem, substance misuse, staying safe, housing and independent living skills.

We’re proud to have supported Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People by offering a valuable work experience placement to a student during his final week of school. There was no better site visit than the iconic Watford Colosseum, where he could see firsthand the local construction projects he’s familiar with having grown up in the area. The SfYP Dacorum and St Albans Team has been involved in the #PloughRoundaboutSubwayProject over the last few weeks. Young people worked alongside local artists, businesses and volunteers to design and paint four vibrant murals in the underpasses under the Plough Roundabout, also known as the Magic Roundabout, in #HemelHempstead. Community Collaboration Brushes Life into the Underpass. A splash of colour and creativity brightened up the underpass in Hemel Hempstead. Thanks to Dacorum Borough Council, Anna’s funky art (Anna Schofield), and Bethany from Services for Young People, who planned and designed the murals that now decorate the walls. Pedestrians now walk through a vibrant masterpiece! Cardo chipped in with paint costs, and volunteers joined the artistic team to help bring the ideas to life. The palette was picked to promote wellbeing and create a safer, more welcoming passage. The community's reaction has been overwhelmingly positive with locals commenting they are feeling more uplifted and secure, thanks to these dazzling designs! #community #collaboration #wellbeing
