Senior Aerospace Weston's 2nd Annual Golf Day in aid of the local food bank charity Open Door took place at Skipton Golf Club on Friday 24th May. Open Door works a little differently to other food banks, as the Centre won't just continuously give out parcels to families, but rather their volunteers sit with them and get to the root of any issues. This includes offering free counselling sessions and signposting to relevant services to help with domestic violence situations, financial problems, and homelessness. Local supplier – Pendle Forklifts – four-person team came out on top of the 23-team event. This year’s event raised £5500, £500 up on last year’s total with Centre Manager - Nick Alderson saying – We can’t thank Paul Rosthorn and the team at Senior Aerospace Weston enough for the effort they put in on the day. It’s such a well-run event with nothing but positive feed back from those who kindly took part. The money will go to supporting open doors initiatives and keeping the charity in operation. Thank you to all who entered a team and all who made generous donations towards the event.

Six employees from Senior Aerospace Weston have joined a group of 25 other cyclists today on a 3 day, 200 miles cycling challenge to raise funds for the Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Charity. The Lakeland Adventure, which started at Burnley Football Club's home ground, Turf Moor, will take the group to Kendal and they will follow one of two routes before heading back to Turf Moor on Saturday. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men at some point in their lives and the BKPCA raises awareness and tests over 5000 men a year, of which hundreds will be referred straight for treatment. The BKPCA needs to raise £100,000 per year to provide this vital, life saving service. Thank you for reading and please support both the team and the charity if you can. And if you are a man aged over 50, book yourself a non-invasive PSA test. It could save your life. https://lnkd.in/eid6zuu6 #bkpca
