As we reflect on the significance of D-Day, it is important to remember and honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who served. Our colleague Terry has taken part in several poignant events to commemorate this pivotal moment in history, visiting key locations and participating in meaningful ceremonies in Normandy. Terry’s journey included visits to Ouistreham, Bréville-les-Monts, Hermanville, and other significant sites where services were held with the regiment. One of the highlights of the trip was the dedication of a new memorial plaque in Bréville-les-Monts, a touching tribute to the fallen heroes. Additionally, Terry participated in a commemoration of the main landings on Sword Beach, as depicted in the first photograph. This location holds deep historical significance as one of the primary landing sites on D-Day. Another noteworthy stop on Terry’s journey was Mont Picon, the site where German forces defending the hill surrendered. This location, shown in the second photograph, stands as a testament to the turning tide of the war and the courage of those involved. Let us take a moment to appreciate Terry's dedication and the importance of these commemorative activities. By remembering the past, we honour those who fought for our freedom and ensure their legacy lives on.
