It's #StartsAtHome day 2024 and we're celebrating the immense positive impact of supported housing alongside the National Housing Federation. Homelessness services are a vital part of our model at Riverside. Last year we supported 13,140 people through supported accommodation, housing first and floating support. Nationally, without supported housing there would be 41,000 more rough sleepers and 30,000 more at risk of repeat homelessness. Services like Railway Road in Wigan provide life changing support for people experiencing homelessness. We want to see Government ringfence funding for supported housing, as well as investing in building more social housing to reduce demand.

🎉 We love celebrating with residents.   Here at Tiller Road in London Borough of Tower Hamlets, we recently celebrated the project officially being underway with our partner Riverside and their residents🥳 The event was also a chance for residents to meet the Mount Anvil team.   The day was packed with fun activities like circus-style games, live music, and face painting. 🎪🎶🎨   It was great to see the whole community come together, especially with residents from Byng Street a few streets down joining the party! 🌟 #BuiltinCommunity

Today we are sharing a short film about homelessness. The film is about Glyn, who used to work for Riverside in our Housing First team. In his own words, Glyn tells the story of his lived experience of rough sleeping, substance abuse, supported housing, being stabbed and rehabilitation. At one point, Glyn lived at one of our supported housing services in Manchester. Hear first-hand from Glyn how through support, rehab and his own grit and determination, he turned his life around and eventually became a Housing First worker at Riverside where he has used his own lived experience to engage and make a hugely positive impact on the lives of people with complex needs. His story is inspirational. At times it is also deeply distressing. Our hope is that this film helps make the case for the importance of support services, many of which are facing cuts as a result of strained local authority finances.
