Decarbonising Real Estate. Reduce Today. Model Tomorrow. Sustain Forever.
About us
re:sustain is decarbonising the built environment through applied building physics. We slash carbon emissions and costs at scale with our building optimisation solution, saving 20-65% annually. re:sustain builds a highly calibrated Digital Twin which defines the energy baseline of a building, against which improvements can be tracked, modelled and automated. re:sustain also provides accurate carbon reporting and the ability to assist with decision making when capex modelling portfolio wide towards portfolio decarbonisation, at the best possible value to a particular target date, which extends the stranding date of real estate assets – and thereby value - as stricter regulation demands higher energy ratings. Bespoke, at scale. The solution is both highly scalable (hardware installation takes less than a day across all geographies) and affordable, enabling rapid portfolio decarbonisation. The solution is applicable to: - Asset Managers: (a) Focussed on delivering high yields through higher rent / premium tenants who are motivated by more sustainable buildings; (b) increasing the asset value by reducing the building/portfolio's carbon emissions, through strategic CAPEX investment; (c) assists with the provision of green financing with accurate data on the asset life and sustainability. - Property Managers & Facilities Managers: (a) Seeking to meet KPIs/Net Zero goals set by Asset Managers, (b) Re-new/extend their contract with Asset Managers through innovation, strong tenant relationships (occupation & yields) and utility cost reductions, (c) service a portfolio with less engineers in a labour restricted market. - Owner/Occupiers: Clients who are directly responsible for their own utility bills, carbon emission reduction and real estate management, seeking to make savings today and plan for tomorrow.

With a new government in place and 35 new bills introduced in the King’s Speech on Wednesday, there's a renewed focus on ambitious action. The Climate Change Committee’s Progress Report highlighted that the UK's 2030 emissions reduction target is at risk, necessitating bold measures across the built environment. As the election dust settles, our attention turns to the recent revisions to the EPBD, a key part of the EU's ‘Fit for 55’ package, which entered into force on 28 May 2024. ⚡𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗣𝗕𝗗? 👉 Represents a comprehensive framework aimed at promoting energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerating the transition to sustainable and zero-emission buildings. 👉 Aligns with the broader goals of the European Green Deal and the target of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. 👉 Provides a detailed roadmap to 2050; including a clear regulatory framework to implementation, stimulating investment in the diverse opportunities presented by this transition. 🎯𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹!) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲: 1️⃣ Extends focus to include whole-life cycle carbon emissions in new builds, promoting materials efficiency and circularity. 2️⃣ Requires all new buildings to be “zero emission” by 2030 and existing buildings by 2050. 3️⃣ Introduces minimum energy performance standards for non-residential buildings, to be determined by member states. 4️⃣ Mandates national building renovation plans aligned with the “energy efficiency first” principle, covering renovation rates, financing, and skills. 5️⃣ Encourages smart digital solutions and data accessibility in buildings, with a smart readiness rating system for high energy demand buildings. 6️⃣ Moves towards a common (actual) energy performance rating and format while acknowledging national differences. 👀 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿? Similar proposals to the EPBD are being developed in the UK. There's potential for the new government to not only match but surpass the EU’s timetable, taking significant strides in tackling energy inefficiency (no pressure 😮💨). 🌱𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄. 🚀 If you missed last week’s PropTech Connect webinar, the recording is now available! Fantastic discussion between Matthew Maltzoff (PropTech Connect), Annie Marston Ph.D, LEED AP (re:sustain), Simon Joe Portal (Drees & Sommer) and Rowan Packer (MAPP). 💡Here are Annie Marston Ph.D, LEED AP’s key takeaways from the discussion: 🗣️Communication is key: Landlord and tenant communication is crucial, as they often share similar goals. Collaborative efforts lead to greater progress. Additionally, FRI and managed properties will require different approaches and solutions, making effective communication essential. ❄️ Buildings are complex, no one-size-fits-all: Just like snowflakes, buildings are unique. There isn't a universal solution for all. Rely on experts and embrace having multiple specialised solutions working together harmoniously. 🛠️ Controls and optimisation: Focus here helps pinpoint issues accurately at building level, while minimising additional carbon emissions from retrofit investments. Optimisation equals carbon savings, whereas investment can quickly add to carbon emissions. Check out the recording and summary transcript from the session here 👉 https://lnkd.in/etCQAH4y 🏢 Optimise Today. Model Tomorrow.
