Today we launched our people-first Voice of the Worker campaign which champions the UK’s world-leading temporary workforce, showcasing why #TempWorkWorks for 1 million people in the UK every day. Announcing it, REC Chief Executive, Neil Carberry, said: “Flexibility at work is something to feel optimistic about. It is working for millions of people. Individual choice and employers’ need for a versatile workforce can be brought together to deliver better careers and higher productivity. As our new survey and video case studies show, flexibility is a vital bridge to work for people who need to balance caring responsibilities, work despite health issues, combine work and study, and upskill." We're proud to share the voices of temporary workers - showing first-hand the impact temporary work has on the lives of individuals. Our ‘Voice of the worker’ campaign is underpinned by our survey of 520 temp agency workers in Britain in June 2024, where we asked why agency work matters to them. Almost eight in 10 temp agency workers (79%) surveyed say temporary work fulfils an important need for flexibility. #TempWorkWorks and any changes to employment rules shouldn’t jeopardise the temporary labour market. At #RECLive24, we hosted a compelling panel discussion on the 2024 business landscape, exploring key economic factors and their implications for the recruitment industry. From the shifting dynamics of inflation and interest rates to the evolving leadership skills needed in a higher-cost environment, our expert panel shared deep insights and bold predictions for the year ahead. Simon French highlighted a crucial point: leaders who thrived in a low-interest, low-inflation era will face new challenges in the decade to come. The conversation underscored the importance of adapting to a changing macroeconomic backdrop, where experience in managing balance sheets and passing on price increases will become more valuable than ever. The quality of thought leadership and open dialogue at #RECLive24 set a high standard for future discussions. If you missed out, don’t worry—RECLive25 is on the horizon, promising even more dynamic insights and opportunities for industry growth.
