A charity that enables young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing
About us
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies. Our vision Our vision is that every young person develops: • The knowledge, skills, and confidence to use computers and digital technologies effectively in their work, community, and personal life; to solve problems and to express themselves creatively • Sufficient understanding of societal and ethical issues to be able to critically evaluate digital technologies and their application, and to design and use technology for good • The mindsets that enable them to confidently engage with technological change and to continue learning about new and emerging technologies Our long-term goals 1. Education: To enable any school to teach students about computing and how to create with digital technologies, through providing the best possible curriculum, resources, and training for teachers. 2. Non-formal learning: To engage millions of young people in learning about computing and how to create with digital technologies outside of school, through online resources and apps, clubs, competitions, and partnerships with youth organisations. 3. Research: To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.

Get your kids coding in Python! Our 'Paint with Python' activity introduces a unique interface that empowers learners to easily interact with Python while they create a customised painting app. To help young people with creating their painting app, much of the initial code is pre-written behind the scenes, which enables learners to focus on experimenting with Python and observing the outcomes. Today we celebrated the one millionth question being answered on Ada Computer Science. An awesome milestone for my team and our friends at the #universityofcambridge who support us every step of the way. The #raspberrypifoundation is on a mission to give every young person across the globe access to free high quality computer science resources. If you are a computer science teacher, you can use our resources to set assignments of self marking questions to your students, and signpost them to content that can be used for flipped learning or revision. If you are a home educator we can help you and your young person gain the knowledge and understanding they need to pass exams. All of our content is mapped to exam boards in England, Wales and Scotland and for those in other countries we label everything as core or advanced to help you navigate our content. If you study or teach computer science teacher why not take a look? If you need help accessing or using our resources, just get in touch. It is just one month now until the start of the UK Bebras Challenge. My team is working hard to finalise the questions for UK students, and are supporting teachers to prepare for the challenge. We have had a surge of interest from parents of home educated students and are very happy to be able to support them to take part. There is also a competition for SSI students....get in touch if you want more information. If you haven't heard of Bebras, check out our website. It is the largest computational thinking conception in the world! The #raspberrypifoundation is very proud to support the challenge; we are on a mission to spread the love for Computer Science across the globe! https://www.bebras.uk/

It’s #BlackHistoryMonth in the UK, and we wanted to share important research about how to adapt #Primary (K-5) computing resources for cultural responsiveness by bringing in the learners’ identity. The study found that when teachers incorporated culturally responsive practices and encouraged students to create digital representations of themselves, students were more invested in their learning. This highlights the importance of tailoring lessons to students' backgrounds and experiences. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eSZBrMgi Many thanks to all the researchers who worked on this project, including our collaborations with Lynda Chinaka (University of Roehampton) and Alex Hadwen-Bennett (King's College London). We're grateful to Cognizant for funding this academic research and to the primary computing teachers for their dedication and enthusiasm. #CSForAll #Computing #Education #CulturalResponsiveness
