Twice City AM Analyst of the Year. Chair. Board Advisor in Media, Tech and Sport. Author 'The Bigger Picture'. Runs 'How to speak the language of the CFO (TM)' course. International speaker, podcaster and contributor
So at the Campaign UK Live event listening to #Publicis CEO Arthur Sedoun talking about the importance of creativity. Three things struck me: 1. The importance of creative. Arthur Sedoun mentioned creative was the differentiator, even in pitches for Media and Tech. As CEOs and CFOs have mentioned in results calls over the past two years, it has been the strength of their brands which has enabled them to pass through greater than expected price increases. 2. Culture matters. The point was made that it was vital to get people back in the office because ideas are generated and creativity is, mmm, created when people come together to discuss. 3. The agencies need to work together. Sure, they compete against each other for work. But there are a number of fundamentally important issues where it makes sense to bury the hatches and realise there is strength through unity. Point 1 is an example ie promoting the value of creative and making sure it is seen as an investment not a cost; helping to push for change in the accounting standards of marketing spend is another. There are several other examples. As usual this is not investment advice. #advertising Gideon Spanier
