Project Humanise

Community Services

Radically empowering communities and organisations to transform in ways that humanise us all.

About us

Building empowered Muslims, Palestinians and Arabs. At Project Humanise we know that the way that systems have been designed has been designed this way purposefully. It is not an accident and ultimately this determines how power is distributed. This is also how decisions are made and who gets to make them. We also know this determines how success is measured. These are all based on colonial dynamics which has led to a system which has had a clear hierarchy and enabled power hoarding. This means the power has not been equally distributed which is why we keep seeing people at the bottom being laid off and are scared of speaking up and there is a real lack of safe spaces. At Project Humanise we acknowledge this and we know there is another way that we can consciously work collectively to work to a different design. We engage in efforts to support our local and global community through community building and collective healing.

As Ramadan approaches many of us are aware that this a Ramadan like no other. We are watching our Palestinian siblings starve and in the holiest month of the year at that too. We can not sit by and watch this happen and we know we can not rely on our governments to change it. This is why we will be raising funds to support our Palestinian friends and their families who are part of our Project Humanise Space2Talk community. We ask you all to dig deep and support us to support those whom we speak to daily and hear first-hand of their struggles. We have a total of 12 people we would like to support and we can't do it alone. We are one community and when our community needs us we show up. The link to donate is in the comments

Do you know why I post my social activism on LinkedIn? I mean it’s lost me work, I’ve been cancelled after being booked for work because of my presence at protests. But I do it because we have been called hate marchers when we protest, people are loosing their jobs over it. But I’ve wanted to show you the love, support, care, singing, dancing, chanting, new friendships and community that exists in our protests. What we have been seeing from the EDL is carnage not a protest. I wanted to show leaders of organisations all how beautiful protesting can be. I wanted to show leaders that skills lay beyond a piece of paper (i mobilised 1000 great members of the community in two days to turn up with love. Surely that’s a skill). I wanted to show how when I spoke with all my passion that it gave people hope and confidence to raise their voices too I wanted to show the pain we feel when we march those streets but our hearts all break together but we support each other to piece it back together and carry on through collective healing I wanted to show you that creating space for people means community comes together in all its diversity. I wanted to show you that your employees out there marching the streets leading chants, up there with the microphone, making people feel safe in community, they are your leaders. I wanted to show you how easily people feel they could post on this platform about being at a counter protest for racism Muslim hate and anti migration but they can’t post about Palestine because it doesn’t feel safe. I really hoped organisations, (hoped not expected) would have given employees the care they need and really try to understand how they are feeling But you still can’t see it….. It’s about time we redefined leadership in the workplace

🌙 Eid Mubarak to all! 🕌 Today, as we come together to celebrate, let us remember our siblings in Palestine, who are still enduring immense suffering. It is a bittersweet Eid, as we hold them close in our prayers and thoughts. But our compassion doesn't stop there. We stand in solidarity with all our siblings around the world who are facing hardships and injustice. This Eid, let us renew our commitment to fight for justice, liberation and freedom for all, because we understand that our freedom is intertwined with theirs. We aren’t free until we are all free. May this blessed day remind us of the strength we possess when we unite in love and support. Together, we can make a difference and create a world where everyone can live in peace and liberation. Sending prayers and heartfelt wishes to all those in need. Eid Mubarak! 🌙✨🌍

During March for #IWD2024 with the #ProjectHumanise community we honoured Remarkable Palestinian Women, Girls and Allies. An idea sparked by Cinthya Sopaheluwakan and Animah Kosai in a community led by Hannah Litt 🍉🍉🍉 and Mehreen Ali 🍉 . Through this idea we brought it into fruition as a community - nominating women, designing images, writing the alt text, researching, posting, commenting and sharing posts, making reels, writing articles. Baiba Žiga Rebecca Steckle Ettie Bailey-King Farhat Zaheer and more brilliant folks from the Project Humanise community Our online network also got involved sharing out posts, commenting, writing us DMs, and powerfully for us nominating brilliant Palestinian women we didn't know (yet) from brilliant Palestinian women themselves. It was an honour to celebrate these women and girls - some I was already touched by and got to learn more about, and others brand new to me and I loved learning about them. Some stories were harrowing - those martyred under the occupation and the gen-oh-side. Some just girls, and babies. Some were icons that paved the way for continued resistance and other women to follow. Some were heroic when they shouldn't have had to be but showed up with the moral courage of lionesses. Some wrote words that have touched many and shared the stories through their novels, poetry and art. They've all had enormous ripple effects in the lives they've touched, the impact they've made and their legacy. We need to know their names and honour their legacies. The women and girls celebrated during Women's History Month were: 🍉 Bisan 🍉 Hind 🍉 Leila 🍉 Dr Amira Al-Assouli 🍉 Plestia 🍉 Leah Tsemel (Ally) 🍉 Ghada Karmi 🍉 Shireen Abu Akhleh 🍉 The Unnamed 🍉 Fatima Bernawi 🍉 Reem 🍉 Heba Abu Nada 🍉 Hind Khoudary 🍉 Dr Mai Hussein 🍉 Noura Erakat 🍉 Rachel Corrie (Ally) 🍉 Adania Shibli 🍉 Hanan Ashrawi 🍉 Sidra and Suzan 🍉 Tarab Abdul Hadi 🍉 Nawal Slemiah 🍉 Haneen 🍉 Muna El-Kurd 🍉 Maschom Watch (Ally) 🍉 Sumayya Wushah 🍉 Susan Abulhawa 🍉 Khalida Jarrar 🍉 Anhar Al-Shanbari 🍉 Noor Harazeen 🍉 Angela Davis (Ally) 🍉 Ahed Tamimi 🍉 Lama Jamous If you missed our posts or want a refresh then check out the brilliant Article written by Baiba in the comments - capturing the women and girls we celebrated over 31 days And just because we officially ended the month doesn't mean there aren't more amazing Remarkable women girls and allies to know about, learn about, be inspired by and to learn from - as we work to a free Palestine, a free world everywhere Watch this space as well be continuing to share some amazing icons every week and we'd love to hear those Remarkable 🍉 women and girls who have impacted you Whilst it's been a small thing in the context of the world, small things matter. And seeing the ripple effects of this campaign, of sharing smiling photos of Bisan on my feed and hearing from folks whove valued the campaign has added joy, and continued preservence.

Last month was Women's History Month. The amazing Project Humanise community decided that it was our moral duty to ensure that in a world that was ignoring our Palestinian sisters and girls, in a world where the same feminists who speak about women's rights yet again were only talking about women who looked like them... white women. Project Humanise knew it was so important we stayed true to our mission and values and ensured we did things differently. For the whole month of March the community highlighted amazing Palestinian women, girls and a few allies. Women's history month might technically be over but we wont stop speaking up for Palestinian women or any oppressed women and girls until they are treated with dignity and they are free. Here is a compilation of all the pictures from the campaign and watch this space on for what's coming next. Thank you to Anita Phagura 🍉 (Inclusion In Construction) Cinthya Sopaheluwakan Animah Kosai Rebecca Steckle Farhat Zaheer Mehreen Ali 🍉 Ettie Bailey-King and the rest of the community for making this happen! In our millions in our billions we are all Palestinians
