The spirit of Black History Month is strong in the community 🧑🤝🧑 Yesterday afternoon, in support of our grassroots community partners Light Project Pro International, PPCP joined forces to support their fourth annual Black History Month celebration. This year’s community event was full of amazing people, teaming with cultural colours, and brimming with a blend of youthful energy alongside local residents of all ages. The event featured diverse pop-up stands offering traditional black and African-Caribbean influenced clothing, herbal remedies, arts and crafts, and flavourful ethnic cuisine for all tastes. Our compere on the day, and charming host for the afternoon’s event, was Light Project Pro International very own Sandra Volcere, who over the last few weeks had spearheaded the preparations to make this occasion. Poetry rang out and speeches were given, whilst the melodic sounds of the community choir filled the packed room enticing its happy audience to sing along in chorus adding to the upbeat atmosphere. On this bright and sunny autumn afternoon, we were delightfully joined by Light Project Pro International founder and Islington councillor, Michelline Safi-Ngongo, who started the charity in 2004 and came to support her local community. We look forward to helping her deliver on Islington Council’s commitments to children, young people, and families, for example through PPCP Tech, Tea and Biscuits (TTaB) service for older people as well as other local initiatives. Through the 21CS employability programme several young volunteers - Rebal Naboulsi (19), Tidiane Nish (22) and Emir Turkekole (19) - were involved on the day to present their work and assist the event, including taking pictures to record this auspicious occasion. We’re grateful for the developing partnership with @LPPI, collaborating on community-based social action projects to support all members of society. #CommunitySupport #BlackHistoryMonth #DiversityInclusion #CommunityEngagement #SocialAction #Partnership Thanks to our sponsors… Cripplegate Foundation Trust for London Islington Giving London Youth 21CS And a special mention to our community partners.
