🥳 Get ready to celebrate because... Positive Solutions HR is 8 today, and I really want to take this opportunity to thank all my amazing clients who have supported me on this incredible journey. As always, a milestone is a brilliant time for self-reflection and re-evaluation. Over the years I’ve helped troubleshoot hiccups such as compliance and policy issues and guided many an organisation through complex restructuring. Learning and development, consultancy, PARTNERSHIP, I’ve always been a people person who loves solving problems and seeing others excel. For me, being an HR professional is therefore both a privileged and a rewarding role - I love every bit of it! If I were to be asked, however, if any particular aspect of HR really stood out for me, I would have to say leadership. Why? Because, to quote Michelle Obama, “People who are truly strong lift others up. People who are truly powerful bring others together.” It’s good to be reminded isn’t it? Great leadership really is the difference between an organisation that thrives and one that dives. I saw this and it really resonated with me. So many Managers are not taking responsibility for performance management, but it's not their fault 😟 They haven't been trained in how to have the right (sometimes difficult) conversations or in how to implement the tools which are available to them. 🔍 People are fascinating, aren’t they? Complex, unpredictable, diverse! Being an HR consultant means I specialise in people - in particular, people management, which means I get to see management processes in action everyday - the good, the bad - and the ugly! One thing that really interests me, is values: Firstly, how easily they’re overlooked!😱 Secondly, how crucial it is to both give them some thought, AND, to make sure they’re clearly communicated to, and UNDERSTOOD by your people. Thirdly, that when values aren’t considered, for example, organisations are dishonest, problems inevitably arise - especially for any HR consultant caught in the middle 🫣 On top of all this, the Isle of Man is small, people talk and reputations damage quickly 😬 I therefore thought I’d put together a list of values that I believe all organisations should be implementing. What else would you love to add? 🌟 Integrity and honesty: ensuring all interactions are genuine and trustworthy. 🌟 Transparency and authenticity: fostering a culture of clear communication. 🌟 Professionalism and sensitivity: creating an environment where employees feel valued and heard. 🌟 Confidentiality: maintaining trust and discretion in all interactions. Maintaining values isn’t just about preventing issues - it’s about building a culture where people feel respected, engaged and empowered.
