Congratulations to OW Ocean Winds UK on reaching the halfway mark on the installation of turbines for the Moray West offshore wind farm - an incredible milestone! We're proud to be the marshalling and pre-assembly facility for the 14.7MW turbine components, managed by Siemens Gamesa. #GreenFreeport #OffshoreWind #CromartyFirth
🎯 Achieving a Key #Milestone: Moray West reaches halfway point in turbine installation! 📍 Our Moray West offshore wind farm has crossed the halfway mark in turbine installation, with more than half of the 60 wind turbines now in place. 🌬 Our supplier, Siemens Gamesa, is managing the pre-assembly at the Port of Nigg and the installation of these 14.7 MW turbines, supported by the Cadeler vessel “Wind Orca,” which is leading the installation campaign. This achievement follows the delivery of first power to Scotland’s National Electricity Transmission System (NETS) in July, and we remain focused on achieving our final goal: full power! ⚡ This progress reflects our team's commitment to excellence and our ability to deliver groundbreaking projects. Great work! 👏 🔎 Discover here all about our #MorayWest Project! https://www.oceanwinds.com #ProudtobeOW #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind

Port of Nigg completes the first phase of the Moray West Offshore Wind Farm. A total of 62 Transition Pieces have been marshalled from our East Quay, destined for installation offshore by DEME Group’s Apollo jack-up vessel. This scope of work has been ably supported by Global Port Services and Global Energy Services, who have provided onsite services including craneage, logistics, mounting ancillary equipment, and inspection & repair. We now turn to the next phase of OW Ocean Winds exciting project, with Siemens Gamesa operating from our South Quay for the preassembly and marshalling of wind turbine components. The tower sections, nacelles, and blades are being stored throughout the site ahead of their installation by Cadeler’s Wind Orca jack-up vessel. Port of Nigg and Global Energy Group would like to congratulate all the teams involved for their collaborative, safe and efficient operations to deliver this groundbreaking project. The Port of Nigg is delighted to support the launch of the Scottish Offshore Wind Ports Alliance (SOWPA) - a progressive and collaborative forum of the country’s leading infrastructure facilities, targeted at optimising the opportunities from offshore wind. Having managed over 3.5GW of offshore wind assets, the Port of Nigg is Scotland’s Premier Green Freeport Renewables Superhub and is one of thirteen port facilities partnered in SOWPA. The alliance is represented by leading offshore energy ports across Scotland, which hold expertise across the full offshore wind value chain. SOWPA is actively developing opportunities to enhance regional competitiveness, drive efficiencies and fast-track the required expertise to support the UK’s burgeoning offshore wind industry. This will be achieved by optimising large-scale operations and addressing common & complex industry challenges through knowledge sharing and collaboration. Welcoming SOWPA’s launch, Iain Sinclair, Executive Director at Global Energy Group, said: “It is widely recognised that ports have a critical enabling role in the industrialisation and deployment of offshore wind in the UK. Today’s announcement demonstrates that ports are motivated to take the initiative, work proactively and diligently together, and align with the whole offshore wind ecosystem, to maximise the localisation of the supply chain requirements. “SOWPA’s collective capability, knowledge and expertise is a world-leading value proposition. We have a willingness and appetite to enhance our competitiveness, address supply chain challenges and deliver against Scotland and the UK’s offshore wind ambitions.” Visit the new SOWPA website to learn more: https://sowpa.co.uk #SOWPA #OffshoreWind #Renewables Kishorn Port Ltd, Port of Nigg, Lerwick Port Authority, Haventus Limited, Orkney Harbours, Port of Cromarty Firth, Stornoway Port , Montrose Port Authority, Port of Aberdeen, Fraserburgh Harbour, Port of Inverness, Peterhead Port Authority, Scrabster Harbour The Scottish Government, Scottish Renewables, British Ports Association, RenewableUK, Offshore Wind Growth Partnership , SOWEC, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise
Leading ports across Scotland have today launched the Scottish Offshore Wind Ports Alliance (SOWPA), a strategic alliance and progressive forum created to optimise the opportunities from offshore wind. The alliance will optimise large-scale operations, enhance regional competitiveness and address common & complex industry challenges through knowledge sharing and collaboration. We have a willingness and appetite to enhance our competitiveness, address supply chain challenges and deliver against Scotland and the UK’s offshore wind ambitions.” Offshore wind is set to play a critical role in Scotland’s targets to reach net zero emissions by 2045. The existing 10GW of installed offshore wind capacity is set to triple through the ScotWind leasing round, adding a further 30GW to this total over the next 10 years. Recognising their role as critical enablers for wider supply chain development, SOWPA’s launch, provides a clear signal to industry on their members willingness to work together with the collective ambition to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind and support the national energy transition.
