Our charity is delighted to work with AAH to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the pharmacy profession. Funding from this valued partner is used to develop our existing support services, helping our pharmacy family who are experiencing challenges with stress and other mental health and wellbeing difficulties 💚 #NationalStressAwarenessDay
Today is National Stress Awareness Day, a day to raise awareness about stress, its impact on mental and physical health, and ways to manage it effectively. It also highlights the importance of mental health support in the workplace, and advocating for more open conversations about stress and its effects. The latest research from our charity partners, Pharmacist Support, shows that 93% of people working in community pharmacy are at a high risk of burnout, with the main causes being listed as inadequate staffing, lack of work-life balance, insufficient protected learning time, absence of colleague or senior support, and long working hours: https://lnkd.in/eqaZpDFf AAH National Account Controller, and registered pharmacist, Matt Courtney-Smith discussed the current challenges facing pharmacists, and the importance of seeking out help and resources. “Pharmacists working in all areas of the NHS play an invaluable role in the health and wellbeing of their local communities. One could argue that, with the increasing focus on clinical services, there has never been a more exciting time to be a community pharmacist, but on the other hand, you could also say there has never been a more challenging time for the sector.” “Pharmacists are experts in looking after their patients, supporting them to take their medicines, identifying signs and symptoms of common ailments, and advising on effective lifestyle measures to support their physical and mental health. With the focus well and truly on community pharmacy, it is critically important that pharmacists and their teams also look out for each other and focus on protecting their own mental health, with the support of people and resources available to them.” AAH is proud to partner with our profession’s independent charity, Pharmacist Support. The charity provides free and confidential support to pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists, trainees and students. Their resources include materials to help with maintaining a work-life balance and managing workplace stress.
