Best practice grant-making, succession planning and investment management were the topics discussed at our recent Oxfordshire Funders' Forum at the The Gradel Institute of Charity . Local funders came together to enjoy an insightful morning of strategic and practical discussions to help them be more effective. We were thrilled to welcome speakers including Professor Peter Frumkin, Academic Director at The Gradel Institute, who shared a model for thinking about philanthropic strategy; and Dame Helen Stephenson CBE, former CEO of the Charity Commission, who reflected on lessons for grant-making charities. Thanks to CCLA Investment Management for their generous sponsorship of the event! 👉 Read the article here and find out how you could join us at our next event: https://buff.ly/3Un4y5o
Oxfordshire Community Foundation
Philanthropic Fundraising Services
Connecting communities for a better Oxfordshire
About us
Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF) is a charity that builds thriving communities through effective philanthropy. Our county’s wealth, success and beauty hide a number of serious and shocking social problems. Local philanthropists choose to work with OCF because we bring an in-depth understanding of these needs and priority issues, alongside trusted relationships with our network of grassroots delivery charities and community groups. We champion this vibrant local charity sector as a crucial way to combat issues such as homelessness, educational inequality, and loneliness and isolation, awarding over £1 million in grants annually. We work with philanthropists, businesses and the public sector, pooling their funds so that they can make a bigger difference together. Funders can feel confident of a safe pair of hands for their contributions, as we implement strong governance processes; conduct thorough due diligence on all grant applications; and report back with inspiring stories on the impact of their support. We have been working in Oxfordshire since 1995, and are part of the UK network of 47 quality-accredited community foundations.

How do you keep afloat if you're already battling with historic debt? Over the past few years households have been faced with the financial impact of the Covid pandemic followed by the cost-of-living crisis. This has eaten into savings and putting them at risk of homelessness, affecting children and families. Although the cost-of-living crisis has eased for some, the lack of affordability of other essentials such as fuel and food is still affecting many households, adding to the squeeze on household finances. 🙏 Could you donate to our Living Essentials appeal to help the most vulnerable people in Oxfordshire? Food insecurity, keeping warm and having stable housing continue to be a huge challenge for some Oxfordshire residents. Could you help us to support people with a safe place to call home, which is warm and with readily available healthy food? 🙏 We are appealing for donations towards our Living Essentials Fund which will make grants to grassroots charitable organisations working to help the most disadvantaged in our county. Here are just a few of the challenges faced by some of Oxfordshire's residents right now: 🏠 Oxford residents spend 50% of their income (on average) on rent verses the national average of 31% 🎒 2,091 homeless households in Oxfordshire in 2024 💡 Energy bills now 49% higher than in 2020/21 Could you help us to fund even more grants to local grassroots charities to support people struggling with life's essentials? We will fund practical support that enables people to survive in the short term, alongside preventative solutions for them to thrive in the long term. The grants round will open in autumn 2024 to support charitable groups through the critical winter months. DONATE NOW >> https://lnkd.in/eRRinjkp

Having a place to call home, which is warm and with readily available food, is something many of us take for granted. Yet for the most vulnerable in our county this may be unaffordable. Food insecurity, keeping warm and having stable housing continue to be a huge challenge for some Oxfordshire residents. 🏠 This is why we have launched an appeal to raise £60,000 towards our Living Essentials Fund which will help the most disadvantaged in our county who are struggling to afford the basics for living a stable and safe life. Grants will be made before Christmas to support charitable organisations to deliver their essential work. 🤝 We encourage you to join the power of the collective, having a greater impact by working together. 🙏 Could you or your organisation help us to reach our target by donating to our Living Essentials Fund? We're pleased to launch the third round of Community Capacity grant funding, thanks to £341,250 from Oxfordshire County Council. Grants will be made to help Oxfordshire’s adult residents to live independently and healthily for as long as possible in their lives. If you're a charitable organisation supporting adults in Oxfordshire to live well in their community you could get a grant of between £5,000 - £20,000. 👉 Find out more and apply here: https://lnkd.in/eR6jSkhU
📣Calling Oxfordshire grass roots organisations - applications are now open for this year's community grants programme📣 Does your group help people to live well and independently in your community? Could you do with some extra funds to make your organisation even stronger and help more people? One of our community funds could be for you! Option 1 - our connected communities fund offers groups quick access to grants of up to £5,000 and is administered by Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action and Community First Oxfordshire. Option 2 - looking to significantly increase your reach? Our community capacity grants could be for you. Oxfordshire Community Foundation administers the fund and will consider applications from organisations looking for £5,000 to £20,000. You can only apply for one fund, so have a think about which might be most suitable. Due to the sizeable sums of money involved in the community capacity grants scheme and the high number of applicants, requests are subject to an assessment panel and generally have a lower chance of receiving funding compared to the connected communities fund. More info about the funds, including application links, can be found on our newspages: https://lnkd.in/e3-Srmih
