With the Paralympics now well underway, the team at Origins wanted to share the story of Grace Harvey, Team GB Paralympic gold medallist and aspiring dentist, which truly resonated with us.   Grace’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of representation. Living with cerebral palsy, she noticed the lack of visibility for people with disabilities in healthcare, particularly in dentistry. Determined to change this, Grace is challenging the notion that those with disabilities can’t be caregivers which she discovered through searching online for dentists in wheelchairs and not finding any results despite personally knowing people in the healthcare industry with disabilities. Demonstrating the value of patient focus is key to securing future investment. At Origins - The Patient Focused Specialists, we advocate for having three key metrics for each patient focused activity we conduct: activity, outcome and impact.   The activity measure tells us about the patients that contributed to the activity and how representative they were of the population.   The outcome measure captures what was learnt as a result of the activity.   The impact measure indicates what was either changed or validated due to the learnings from the activity.   To help identify to right metric type for each project, we use the PFMD Metrics Selector.   How are you demonstrating the value of the investment you are making in patients?   #PatientFocus #PFMD #Metrics #DemonstratingValue #Origins
