About us

One HealthTech is a grassroots community that supports and promotes women and other under-represented groups to be future leaders in health innovation. We campaign for the need and importance for better inclusion of all backgrounds, skill sets and disciplines in healthtech. The OHT community comes from many different sectors and industries and includes healthcare providers, SMEs, corporates, academia and the voluntary. Having started as a small meet-up in London in late 2015, OHT has grown to now have hubs all over the UK, including Wales and Scotland, as well as internationally, in Dublin (Ireland), Stockholm (Sweden) and Melbourne (Australia). All hubs are led by local community builders, passionate about digital health in their region. What we do OHT supports the health and care community through education, mentorship, promoting the positive effects of inclusion in technology, encouraging broader participation at meetings and events, and championing diversity in leadership. Healthtech encompasses a broad range of specialities and disciplines, spanning technology, design, medicine, business, research and many more. Our events have looked at virtual reality, securing investment in healthtech startups, disrupting clinical trials and artificial intelligence in health. How do I join? People-centred design for social impact. Sign up to support equitycharter.digital for equity in digital health.

It was such a rewarding experience holding our first public outing for The Equity Charter at HETT this week. As well as our stand, Ayesha Rahim Hassan Chaudhury HonFAPM and I ran a workshop with Alex Hernandez, MPA and our friends at OneHealthTech on leadership for equity in the digital health sector. A theme that resonated with me was the importance of curiosity, openness and continual learning - we don't have to know everything to take a stand for greater equity. Also, fab group photo 👏

✨ Thrilled to have been part of the One HealthTech Brighton Launch! 🚀 Being at the premier event in Brighton was an incredible experience, and I’m excited to see this community grow. It was amazing to connect and network with inspiring professionals like Katherine Prescott, John Gibbons, Ida S. , Dr Hina Elton, and Hannah Hollis. Conversations like these are what drive innovation in health tech, and I’m grateful to be part of this dynamic group. Also, a special shoutout to Freddie the Butler, our newest (and quietest) team member who stood right behind me the whole time! 🤣 He might not say much, but he sure knows how to suit up and steal the show! The passion and dedication in this community are unmatched, and I am eager to contribute to the health tech space alongside such talented individuals. Looking forward to many more events, collaborations, and breakthroughs with the One Health Tech family. Here’s to the future of health tech! 🌟 #OneHealthTech #BrightonLaunch #HealthTech #Networking #FreddieTheButler

#HETT24 and “Leading with Impact: Championing Equity in Digital Health” workshop reflections 😎 I always love the post-HETT buzz. On my way back home from London, I enjoy seeing everyone’s takeaways, pictures, and reflections. Whether catching up in the corridors, comparing session highlights, or discussing key messages, it's a powerful reminder of the #connections we’ve built. Face-to-face conversations bring a deeper sense of connection, and give greater meaning to our work & aspirations. It’s always uplifting to see our community come together, all navigating the 'waters' the best way we can. This is truly the power of #networks in action. 📌 Key Reflection: The central theme I walked away with from #HETT24, as with other recent events, is #connections, #relationships, #engagement, and #CoCreation. Whether you're in the #NHS, #industry, #academia, or #VCSE sector, we must keep championing the "human" side of our work, focusing on how #technology is designed and implemented to improve outcomes for NHS #staff, #patients, & #carers. Yesterday, I had the privilege 🤗 of sharing the stage with the Equity Charter Team – Hassan Chaudhury HonFAPM, Victoria Betton and Ayesha Rahim. On behalf of the One HealthTech Tech MCR Hub – Nosheen Hussain, Charlotte Lewis, Bernadette Clarke – I reflected on our campaign "Increasing #LeadershipDiversity in #DDaT”. Since the #HETT committee first welcomed us in 2022 at the Digital Academy Leadership Summit, we’ve led EIGHT roundtables and presentations, including HETT North (2023, 2024), Rewired (2024), and #HETT24. A massive thanks to #SamShah and all who have supported us on this journey. Our One HealthTech family and support from Angela Maragna, Maxine Mackintosh. We’ve sparked “unusual” conversations and invited provocations. 🔔 We have gathered qualitative and quantitative data and reached mid and senior NHS leaders, mostly women who identify as “White British.” Many have shared the struggles of fitting into organizational culture as women or ethnic minorities, the lack of career progression and support, and the challenges of balancing motherhood. There is still much to do to reach #underrepresentedgroups and increase leadership diversity, ensuring the NHS workforce reflects the population it serves. #Language is powerful – it can shift attitudes, and help us question and evolve socially constructed concepts as our mindsets and actions progress. We accept the importance of avoiding patronising language and narratives that support a transfer of privilege between groups or people. Rather we invite #criticalthinking. The Equity Charter Team left us with thought-provoking insights and encouraged the room to reflect on moments when we stood up for something important, what worked, and what didn’t. The Equity Charter is undertaking formal consultation on the principles. Please sign up to be a supporter: www.equitycharter.digital #HealthTech #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #Equity

Strategic Advisor, Transformation and Change Leader with a specialism in digital innovation

I was lucky to attend the session yesterday at HETT Show run jointly by One HealthTech Manchester Hub and the Equity Charter team on Championing Equity in Digital Health. Alex Hernandez, MPA brilliantly shared the learnings from the One HealthTech team who have been working to promote diversity in leadership. I loved her humble but inclusive tone when she shared:  "We are no Diversity and Inclusion experts, just a group of people inviting others to feel empowered to call for action to increase leadership diversity". She also challenged us by saying "You don’t have to be a member of a certain demographic or community in order to be a vocal supporter of their movement". As an audience she left us feeling that we should all feel strong enough to step in and challenge poor behaviour regardless of our own position. This was echoed with the exercises that the Equity Charter team took us through when we discussed the role of language, how we felt when we stepped in and challenged others and how we felt when we didn't. It was a fantastic and reflective session. HETT is a wonderfully inclusive and warm community. I met so many people who openly helped others whether finding new roles, sharing contacts and expertise or celebrating successes of others. I love seeing all the posts on LinkedIn where everyone is lifting each other up. Sadly this isn't the case universally and the work the OHT and Equity Charter teams are doing is vital and I look forward to continuing to help. Please do join us.
