🌟Strategic Innovation Fund🌟 We've secured nearly £1m of funding from Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund, managed in partnership with Innovate UK, to move two projects, Equiflex and LVOE, into their next stage. The two projects look to address key challenges facing the electricity network and its customers as the UK moves to electrification and a sustainable future; removing barriers to flexibility services and helping to balance voltage differences on the network to enable the uptake of low carbon technologies such as electric vehicles and heat pumps. This week is Baby Loss Awareness Week and as part of that, we are proud to announce we have become the first regulator to sign the Pregnancy Loss Pledge. This is a significant step towards removing the taboo surrounding miscarriages and helping our team when they need it. 1 in 4 will experience this incredibly emotional event. It is the most common kind of pregnancy loss. In an organisation the size of Ofgem, this means there could be hundreds experiencing or have experienced baby loss. At Ofgem, we believe in supporting our team through all of life’s challenges, including the profound difficulties of pregnancy loss. By signing Miscarriage Association's  pledge, we are committed to providing the necessary support and understanding to our employees during such times. We encourage other organisations and regulators to join us in this important initiative, so work is a supportive place for everyone. If this affects you, please follow the link to The Pregnancy Loss Pledge - The Miscarriage Association https://ow.ly/GweS50THCHl

Energy consumers deserve a good service from their supplier, and it’s our job to ensure that they get it. One of ways that we monitor supplier performance is to carry out a regular survey to measure and track domestic energy consumers’ experiences of the quality of service delivered by suppliers. The Energy Consumer Satisfaction Survey, jointly commissioned with Citizens Advice, covers a range of topics including satisfaction with energy suppliers, satisfaction with the dimensions of customer service and experiences of supplier support for consumers struggling with their energy affordability issues. Today we have published the interim report of findings from the July 2024 Energy Consumer Satisfaction Survey where a representative sample of 3,750 domestic energy consumers across Great Britain have been surveyed. It’s important to note that the interim report focuses on the headline findings but doesn’t cover the full breadth of questions explored within the research. The full findings of this research will be published later in 2024. Our research shows that levels of reported satisfaction with customer service have increased and are now back to where they were before the energy crisis at 71%, up from 66% earlier this year in January/February 2024. Satisfaction is improving across several key customer service dimensions including customers saying they found it easier to contact their suppliers as well as increased satisfaction with billing accuracy and information received. We’ve been working hard with the sector to drive up standards and while it’s clear that work is starting to make a difference there is more to be done. That is why we recently published our new Consumer Confidence strategy to drive further improvements across the sector and ensure households are getting the best possible service. We will continue to explore these survey results and other data sources to understand consumers’ experiences and support Ofgem’s work in ensuring suppliers are putting consumers first. We are pleased to announce that energy suppliers have vowed to work together to replace 800,000 Radio Teleswitch (RTS) meters across the UK before the service is switched off next summer. The agreement follows a summit, organised by Ofgem, gathering energy suppliers and stakeholders to find a joint solution to the challenge of upgrading households from the ageing technology before the service ends on Monday 30 June, 2025. The RTS system, which uses radio signals to tell some electricity meters to switch between on or off-peak rates, is no longer viable – and without a meter upgrade, some affected homes, schools and businesses could be left without heating and hot water, or unable to turn off their heating. • I am heartened to see so many suppliers and organisations put their rivalries and individual needs aside to strive together towards the shared, and most important, goal – to keep consumers safe.
