Our NHS Trust provides hospital & community health services across four localities in Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale
About us
The Northern Care Alliance is an NHS Foundation Trust (NCA FT) created by bringing together two NHS Trusts, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The NCA FT was formally established on 1 October 2021. The NCA has been working together as a group since 2016. Who are we? Our dedicated team of around 20,000 staff – our NCA Family – provide a range of community and hospital services to over one million people across Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Salford, as well as providing more specialist care to patients across Greater Manchester and beyond. Patients and service users may receive a range of integrated health and social care services at their home or in their community or be treated and cared for in one of our four hospitals – Salford Royal Hospital, The Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary or Fairfield General Hospital in Bury. Our aim is to save lives and improve lives. We do this by working with partner organisations in improving the population health of our local communities, and by delivering consistently high standards of care and experience each day, every day.

Check you out. This is an important message for us all. Get to know your body. It’s important to be aware of any new or worrying symptoms.
We are working with GLL to reflect an important message in leisure centres and libraries: Check yourself regularly so you know what’s normal for you. This summer, stickers reminding people to be body aware and look out for potential early symptoms of cancer are appearing in changing room and bathroom mirrors of Better leisure centres and libraries across the country. Know what is normal for you. Get to know your body so that you can spot any new or concerning changes. It’s probably nothing serious, but finding cancer early makes it more treatable and can save lives. If something in your body doesn’t feel right, contact your GP practice. Our children's speech and language therapy team bid farewell to senior speech and language therapy assistant, Karen Mills (centre of the picture). Karen had been part of the Rochdale team for 19 years and saw many changes during her time. She played an integral part in early service delivery changes and new ways of working, through the establishment of group therapy initiatives for the children of Rochdale. We wish Karen all the best!

Follow Julie Hartley's lead and take on the bungee jump challenge for NorthCare Charity! Julie (pictured right), our director of communications and NorthCare fundraising, took on the Salford Quays jump in 2022 and said: “I can’t believe I plucked up the courage to do this but I’m glad I did. I didn’t know what to expect as I’d never done anything like this before, so it was definitely a bucket list experience for me. Any nerves I had quickly turned to exhilaration! I’m proud that I did the jump and most importantly, raised money for our charity NorthCare.” #Fundraising #Charity #NHS
