The North East is changing – and so are we. It has been almost a decade since the team relaunched North East Times in 2015 and, ever since, we have celebrated the region’s incredible business landscape through compelling journalism, striking photography and forward-thinking design. Now, following the recent acquisition of national news platform Bdaily, the team behind NET is embracing an exciting new chapter. From today, North East Times Magazine becomes N. Our print publication no longer carries the masthead of North East Times Magazine; instead, you’re reading N, a new design identity that highlights the vibrant North East business community to a broader national audience. Our first cover features the incredible Carole O'Neil - whose story of power, passion and progress embodies the very essence of what makes our region extraordinary and serves as the perfect debut to this exciting new era for N. NET is now the parent company to a house of brands including N and Bdaily - this structure retains our regional heritage while allowing for each brand to have its own identity, values and strategy. With our acquisition of Bdaily, this now becomes Bdaily 2.0, aka B. Our mission with B is to cut through the noise and spotlight business news and insight to the key professionals, leaders, influencers and decision-makers across the UK. Follow Bdaily on LinkedIn for daily business news and insight - both regionally and nationally. Change has arrived. But what we stand for remains the same. Smart Works Newcastle is transforming lives across the North East by equipping women with essential tools to enter or re-enter the workforce. Through one-on-one coaching and high-quality clothing support, the centre helps clients approach their interviews with confidence and capability. Here, centre manager Helen Boyd discusses the hurdles faced by women in the North East, the evolving job market and the profound impact Smart Works has on the region. VISION 31 // BRINGING THE NORTH EAST TO THE CAPITAL CITY It's officially two weeks to go until NET's London summit - the latest chapter in our flagship VISION 31 campaign. Through our VISION 31 campaign, we have created a blueprint to supercharge North East industrial and economic growth across the next decade. Change is sweeping across the North East - from the north of the region’s historic devolution power grab to commercial advances primed to shape tomorrow’s world, ours is an area on the move. Showcasing the region’s powerhouse business community to investors, sector leaders and experts, the event - held at The Aon Centre in central London - will focus on the North East’s two mayoral-led regeneration bodies, its ground-breaking manufacturers, its thriving digital sector, its healthcare innovators, scaling entrepreneurs and the companies driving the net-zero agenda. Set to be complemented by further North East-based events next year, it will show the region is ready to lead another industrial era, just as it did with coal mining, shipbuilding and the iron and steel that helped forge the world. Limited spaces available. To find out more email: [email protected] or [email protected] With thanks to: Aon, Lloyds Banking Group, Jackson Hogg, Lumo, Recognition PR and North East BIC. NAVIGATING A NEW ERA // ECONOMIC INSIGHT WITH ROGER MARTIN FAGG "Gen Z is 25 per cent of the global workforce, and Gen Alphas will be coming into the workforce over the next five years. They are wired completely differently to us, and the only way we’re going to get growth is to understand and find out which buttons to press to get the best out of them." Speaking at an economic insights event hosted by NET and Vistage UK - alongside Raymond James Monument and Cascade Cash Management - behavioural economist Roger Martin-Fagg shared an optimistic outlook for the UK’s financial landscape. With recent budget commitments from Labour, Roger predicted five ‘growth years’ for UK businesses - provided they harness the power of new generations in the workforce. The event concluded with a panel discussion hosted by Andrew Marsh featuring Roger, Gary Fawcett and Dr Emma Black, who echoed the need for adaptable leadership and innovative thinking.
