Well done Matt Morris! Mixing your love for the festival with your expertise in Retail - a perfect combo! #Retail #CheltenhamLiteratureFestival #ComingTogether #TownPlanning #WeAreNexus
Director at Nexus Planning (Bristol) - Specialist Retail and Town Centre Planning Advisor to the Private and Public Sectors
It's that time of the year again when I take time off from the day job and take up another job: working at the Cheltenham Literature Festival. Whilst my colleagues at the normal day job (town planning at Nexus Planning) look on with a sense of bafflement that I would take leave from one job to do another, Cheltenham's Festivals are a wonderful mixture of fun, education and socialising; all in a great built environment created by Cheltenham. Being a town centre and retail planner I suppose it's also a bit of a busman's holiday as I get to experience first hand an event which brings so much vitality to the town and I get to talk to people about why these types of events are so important to the health of town and city centres across the country. It's also lovely to bump into so many clients and people I know from the planning and property industries in Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds and the West of England over the course of the festival to talk about everything from books, the built environment (Thomas Heatherwick is a 'must see' this year....) and just 'catching up'. If you're local, or work in the local area, or are planning to visit the festival, then let me know if you're free for a coffee and cake. #cheltenham #nexus #towncentres #thebuiltenvironment "Literature is news that stays news" (Ezra Pound, The ABC of Reading, 1934)

Last week, our team in Bristol had the opportunity to volunteer with our charity partner, Caring in Bristol, which supports people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We were thrilled to assist with their Bristol Goods project, which provides affordable, nutritious food and access to advice on various issues beyond food. Our team helped with food pick-ups, organised donations, and prepared them for the food clubs. It was a rewarding experience to be part of such a meaningful initiative and witness first-hand the positive impact that both Caring in Bristol and Bristol Goods have on our community. #CaringInBristol #Charity #FoodClubs #Volunteering #WeAreNexus
