We’re proud to announce that Nest is now a Level 3 Disability Confident Leader. The Disability Confident scheme encourages employers to be disability inclusive, by taking action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities or long-term conditions. Since we signed up for the Disability Confident Employer Scheme, we've worked hard to progress through the three levels. Some of the steps we've taken are below. Martell McBean, our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Business Partner, said: “Being a Disability Confident Leader is great, but it doesn’t mean that we’re perfect and we mustn’t be complacent. There are areas that we can improve in, and we will continue to work with our colleagues and wider business to work towards ensuring that we remain disability inclusive.”
About us
Nest is a great UK success story. Established in 2010, Nest is a critical pillar of the Government’s automatic enrolment programme, with a public service obligation (PSO) to accept any employer wishing to use the scheme to discharge their automatic enrolment duties. From a standing start, we have delivered a high quality, low cost pension scheme open to all, which has not only delivered on its mission, but has also helped to drive up standards and best practice across the industry. Now with over 12 million members and well over half a million participating employers, Nest is playing a critical role in helping people save for their retirement - many of them low to moderate earners who may be saving for the first time, and moving jobs frequently. Nest now occupies an important place in the pensions market and will deliver high quality pensions to mass market consumers for many years to come, leveraging its scale to deliver value through the combination of low costs, market leading investment solutions and modernised services all overseen by strong Trustee governance.

Congratulations to our Chief Investment Officer, Elizabeth Fernando for making the 2024 Power 100 list of CIOs. According to Chief Investment Officer Magazine, the role of CIO is crucial in times of global transformation to provide strong leadership skills and investment discipline. Navigating the challenges of investing while recruiting, developing, and retaining talent is a challenge for CIOs in any business alongside the ongoing trends of AI, demographic change, the energy transition and political realignment. Liz joined Nest 4 years ago as our Head of Long Term Investment Strategy and became CIO in May 2023. Well done Liz 👏 🎉

Hear from our Nest Invest CEO, Mark Fawcett, OBE on our recent news about us joining forces with Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) and PGGM Investments to collectively invest up to £1 billion in building high-quality rental homes across the UK. This initiative, with an initial £350 million commitment, is a great investment opportunity for our members that will also help to address the critical shortage of rental housing. By leveraging the expertise of L&G and the financial power of PGGM, we’re confident in delivering high-quality, rental properties that meet the growing demand of UK renters. Build-to-rent (BtR) properties are new or existing developments converted from other uses and re-developed to a high-standard. The residential units are specifically designed for rent, as opposed to for sale. BtR is estimated to be worth about £30 billion. There are currently 88,100 completed BtR units with a further 164,900 either under construction or in planning. #UKInvestment #BuildtoRent
