Meet Mehar 👋 During her first year of University, she was diagnosed with photoaggravated atopic dermatitis (PAD), a skin condition that is triggered or made worse by sunlight. "To help raise awareness of PAD, I joined a project with other patients where we shared our experiences and created expressive artwork about our condition and the impact it has on our lives." It's World Mental Health Day 🧠 All too often, members of our community manage their eczema privately, don’t receive adequate support and can be left struggling with their mental health. This year, we want to highlight the importance of addressing mental health in the workplace, for the benefit of those living with eczema, organisations, and the eczema community. We've created a resource to help facilitate conversations in the workplace about eczema and the impact it can have on mental health. This World Mental Health Day, let's start the conversation 💭 https://bit.ly/482coqL

From a young age, Barry faced the challenges of eczema, from the constant itching and sleepless nights. As he grew older, Barry learned to manage his condition, but the journey was far from easy. After a long period of relief, his eczema returned, leaving him covered in painful rashes. Barry is now raising awareness of the impact of eczema on mental health. We're very disheartened to see the headlines over the weekend, labelling eczema as 'bizarre' and 'rarely-seen'. Newcastle Football Club's Matt Targett was ruled out of his weekend game due to an eczema flare-up. As many in the eczema community know, living with eczema and dealing with a flare can be painful, exhausting and draining, both physically and mentally. Eczema should never be labelled as 'bizarre', and with 1 in 10 adults living with eczema, it certainly isn't 'rarely seen'. Thank you, Matt, for putting your wellbeing first and for setting an example that it's always okay to take time away to manage your eczema 👏 👏

It’s National Eczema Week and we are sharing Natalie’s story with you. “Living with eczema affects so many parts of your life. From the clothes you wear, to what you wash with, what you eat, how you feel about yourself.” “It makes you self-conscious. It affects your self-confidence and self-esteem. It affects your mental health. You don't feel comfortable in your skin.” This September, Natalie laced up her running trainers to raise awareness, by taking on the Great North Run for National Eczema Society.
