About us
Sight loss is not uncommon. In Oxfordshire, almost 4000 people are registered as visually impaired and MyVision Oxfordshire is available to all of them for information, support and advice, and other services. MyVision was founded in 1877 and is the principal charity in Oxfordshire providing support and services for adults and children who are living with sight loss, and for their carers. Empowering Through Technology Chris Adams, who has been living with sight loss due to glaucoma, found new independence through MyVision’s Get Connected project. Technology has become a vital tool in helping her regain confidence and engage with the world around her. A First for Banbury! On the 9th October, we hosted our very first Green Walk in Banbury with a fantastic group of 9 participants. Despite the rain, we didn’t let it stop us. Everyone had a great time, and we wrapped up with a well-earned coffee at The Mill Arts Centre. Our next Banbury walk is on October 23rd, meeting again at The Mill Arts Centre at 10:00 AM. This week is Get Online Week! Our Get Connected Project launched in April 2023, the project aims to give people the tools, skills and tech to get online and get connected. The project consists of introduction workshops, individual training sessions and our tech buddy partnerships. Since launching the project we’ve held 10 Workshops across Oxfordshire: 80% of attendees felt more confident to use new technology after the sessions and many went on to receive further support to get online.
