As we finally enjoy some sun this Summer, it’s the perfect time to talk about something really important: melanoma awareness. Earlier in the Summer we had the privilege of supporting ITN Business and Melanoma Focus to develop a new podcast series called Living with Melanoma. The series features insightful interviews with patients, healthcare professionals, and others in the melanoma community, delving into personal stories, practical advice, and busting some of the myths surrounding what is a serious, but highly preventable, form of cancer. We’re particularly pleased that Yam Sumbwanyambe, MSD employee and seasoned podcast host, was able to guest host one of the episodes discussing the important topic of melanoma and skin tone. Melanoma is often associated with lighter skin tones, however people of all colours can be affected by melanoma and when it develops in people of colour it is more likely to be picked up late, leading to poorer outcomes.  The full series is available here and can also be downloaded wherever you get your podcasts. Please have a listen and learn why sun safety, early diagnosis, and community awareness are so important to improving melanoma care for all

An amazing team of people, with an amazing mission…helping NGOs address some of the world’s most pressing health challenges 🌐 Last week in our London office we hosted colleagues from all over the world who came together for their onboarding, as they set off on their journey with the Richard T. Clark (RTC) fellowship for Global Health programme. The progamme pairs company employees with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to tackle complex global health challenges. A three-month, corporate pro bono program, it allows our fellows to use their skills and talents to help make a difference in the lives of others and engage in important projects that contribute to our focus on expanding access to health. Each year, approximately 30 employees from around the world are selected. The fellowship focuses on three areas: ·       Strengthening the capacity and reach of NGO partners with technical and human capital support. ·       Providing rich professional-development experiences for our selected employees. ·       Applying key learnings across the company. This year, we are very excited that three of our UK colleagues have been selected for the progamme, Holly Fry, Karen M., Monir Ahmed, and we are looking forward to following them on their journey over the coming months. #WeAreMSD #Volunteering
