About us
We are enabling children around the world to get creative with technology and invent in school, in clubs and at home! The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer given to every Year 7 child across the UK - and now being used around the world. It’s 70 times smaller and 18 times faster than the original BBC Micro computers used in schools in the early 1980s. Started by the BBC and a great team of partners, the Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a non-profit organisation.

✨ Inspirational project and impact news COMPTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT is an example of an organisation that is dedicated to bringing world-class science and technology education directly to students that would not normally be exposed to those experiences. ✨ We could see how CUSD’s work aligned with our mission, and so secured funding and micro:bits with OKdo. CUSD brought in 9 Dots, a non-profit, to deliver training and support for educators in the area. Through summer schools, STEAM labs, challenges and celebration events over the year, CUSD built a programme to engage students with the micro:bit and digital experiences over the year. ✨ Supported by Head of North America , Katie Henry, we were delighted that local micro:bit Champions were able to help provide additional support and expertise as the project went on. 👀 Read the full impact report: https://lnkd.in/d7ij3ZFU Alvaro Brito, Darren Alcala, Lindsay Munoz, Sharisa Chan, Ed.D. #impact #DesignThinking #TechForGood #STEM #coding #microbit #teachers #elementaryteacher #stemed #stemeducation #steam #steameducation #csforall #csteacher
