What’s Next for Private Credit? Over the past few weeks, my conversations with clients and candidates in the credit market have centered around what’s next for private credit. With yields at a 10-year high (averaging 11.65%, according to Brookfield Oaktree), private credit continues to attract attention. Historically, it has outpaced public credit by 3%-4% due to the liquidity premium, as noted by Cliffwater. These metrics highlight the sector’s growth and appeal, but they also signal a need for transformation. As the industry matures, LPs are demanding: -         Greater transparency  -         More nuanced reporting -         Detailed deal-level insights Challenges such as cash forecasting for better liquidity visibility and fundraising complexities are top of mind for many GPs. In this dynamic environment, specialized credit strategies like distressed and mezzanine financing can be areas of significant opportunity. Investors with flexible capital and a focus on these strategies are arguably well-positioned to lead in the next phase of the credit cycle.

  • Real Deals are celebrating 25 years of reporting on the Private Equity market in Europe. To celebrate their silver jubilee, they have gathered “key industry figures to share their insights into the last 25 years of private equity’s history”. Back in 1999, when Real Deals was founded, private equity in Europe was in a growth phase. On a deal front, “610 European PE-backed buyouts were recorded… with a total value of $49bn”. European PE has been on an upwards trajectory since then. Exact figures differ slightly across data records, but the three largest deals recorded this year (NetCo, Opella and Nord Anglia Education) are “jointly worth more than the entire market in 1999”. Secondary transaction volume through Q3 of 2024 hit an all-time high (circa $110bn), which almost surpassed the year end total in 2023 (circa $112bn) with Q4 still to come. Off the back of this trend, the majority of our advisory clients are looking to strengthen their teams as we head into 2025. We are looking to speak to the below candidates in London and New York: - Analysts within Secondary Advisory/M&A - Associates/Senior Associates within Secondary Advisory/Investments - VPs within Secondary Advisory/Investments If you are looking to secure a new secondary advisory position, please reach out via email [email protected] or here on Linkedin.

  • A number of news outlets are reporting on the second reduction in interest rates this year by the Bank of England. We expect the continued loosening of fiscal policy by central banks, including the Bank of England, to lubricate the deal making environment further. We expect to see revenue performance continue on a positive trajectory into 2025, with demand for strong experienced hires set to continue to increase quarter by quarter.  If you’d like to get ahead of the curve, reach out for a confidential conversation with one of our consultants.
