Another World-Class Sporting Event Coming to Manchester! We’re thrilled to announce that on 12 April 2025, Manchester will host Red Bull Featured at the iconic Manchester Central. This ground breaking competition is set to redefine BMX events on a global scale, as sixteen of the world’s most innovative riders compete in a custom-built park unlike anything seen before. Curated by BMX legend and Red Bull athlete, Sebastian Keep, Red Bull Featured removes the traditional penalties for falls, creating a platform where ambitious new tricks and boundary-pushing stunts are not only encouraged but celebrated. It’s a format designed to spark innovation and help riders achieve world-first feats right in front of a live audience. Some of the most respected names in the sport, including Olympic Gold medallist Charlotte Worthington MBE, Olympic Bronze medallist Declan Brooks, and renowned judge David Cleworth, will evaluate performances on four unique features—High Air, Sub Box, Quarter Pipe, and Jump Box—each bigger and bolder than ever seen in competition. Rising BMX star Kieran Reilly, who landed the world’s first Triple Flair last year, is already confirmed, promising fans an unforgettable experience. With a rider line-up announcement coming in January 2025, excitement is building for what’s sure to be a sold-out event. Early bird tickets are available now at a discounted rate—don’t miss the chance to witness a piece of sporting history in the making. General admission will open in January, so secure your spot soon and be part of Manchester’s continuing legacy as a global sporting destination. Manchester City Council

About the other night... Now that the dust has settled, we wanted to take the time to congratulate Keely alongside coaches Jenny & Trevor on their amazing achievement winning Sports Personality of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively. Not forgetting finalist and true GOAT of the game Dame Sarah Storey who was also nominated in the final 6 after sweeping up yet more gold in Paris! The North West proves to be a hub of sporting excellence with the area dominating the evening - Shout out to our GM neighbours in Wigan and Salford for sweeping the prizes and hosting the evening! In Manchester, we are proud to say that both the Coach of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year utilise the city's world class facilities to achieve world class results, with the M11 Track Club training right here out of the Manchester Regional Arena. Dame Sarah Storey has also been a mainstay of the Manchester Aquatics Centre and Velodrome over her illustrious career. In our European Capital of Cycling year, we must also pass our congratulations to Sir Mark Cavendish for picking up the Lifetime Achievement award. An evening of great recognition for cycling and cyclists who have spent time in Manchester, and like Dame Sarah, have trained out of the National Cycling Centre in East Manchester. We are truly honoured to have played but a small role in the achievements of so many local athletes this year. With 52 Olympic & Paralympic medals Made In Manchester this year. Congratulations to all. Manchester is without question a city #AliveWithSport. Trevor Painter Jenny Meadows OLY Dame Sarah Storey Manchester City Council

BE PART OF MANCHESTER’S URBAN FESTIVAL JOURNEY Manchester has identified an opportunity to create a unique, inclusive festival that celebrates urban sports, street culture, music and art in the city. The growth of urban sport and culture has been notable in recent years, the interplay of music, art, sport and culture in urban environments creates a rich tapestry of experiences that fosters community cohesion and celebrates diversity. Manchester and UK Sport believe that this seamless integration can serve to not only enhance the vibrancy of the city but also contribute to Manchester’s social and cultural resilience. Manchester City Council, in partnership with Manchester Active and with support from UK Sport, is seeking to commission an agency, or consortium of industry-based professionals headed up by a nominated Lead Consultant, to move Manchester from having an aspiration in this space to defining a clear vision and concept for a festival of urban sport, art, music, and culture in the City, backed up by a detailed assessment of financial feasibility and concluding by mapping out a clear pathway from concept approval to delivery of a first iteration. We’re inviting tender quotations for the provision of services by 12:00 noon on Wednesday 8 January 2025 submitted electronically via email to Mike Parrott, Head of Event Development, Manchester City Council. ✉️Email: [email protected] For further information, full details of the services required and specification, visit: https://lnkd.in/eACdZ_tp
