Insurance Insider, in partnership with Markel, recently hosted its webinar: ‘Insuring the Renewable Energy Wave’ which explored the challenges and risks around insuring renewable energy projects, as well as the opportunities to be had in this space.   The panel featured Álvaro Sánchez Díaz, Head of Technical Management, Statkraft, Alison Clarke, Renewables Leader, Aon, and Jan Pagan, Risk Control Engineer at Markel, who kicked-off the session by providing an overview of the renewable energy market with a focus on four key areas – offshore wind, onshore wind, solar and ‘the newest kid on the block’ – battery energy storage systems (BESS).   “There’s lots of investment coming in the sector,” Jan told viewers. “For onshore wind, the size of wind turbines has got significantly larger – up to eight megawatts – which is an impressive jump... with most being installed in Asian countries, where they’re exposed to nat cat events.” He went on to explain the supply chain issues affecting the renewables sector from the production of large offshore wind turbines which, is putting pressure on installation vessels, to the challenges in lead times and risk exposures for subsea cables and transformers.   Watch the full recording 👉 https://lnkd.in/e_kVYYJ5
