The most wholesome promotion you'll probably ignore (but you shouldn't!) We live in a world of constant ads and influencer hype. Every day, we're blasted with messages screaming about the next big thing we absolutely need (we probably don't). So, it's understandable if a certain heartwarming campaign slips under your radar, even if it involves two of the UK’s simplest pleasures: Tea and Biscuits ☕🍪. McVitie's, have partnered with the mental health charity Mind for a truly lovely promotion. They're encouraging everyone to slow down, grab a cuppa and a biscuit (or two), and have a proper chat with someone they care about. This might sound simple, but the statistics paint a worrying picture. A huge 46% of British adults admit to keeping their worries bottled up. Almost a third (30%) are terrified of judgment, preventing them from opening up. And it's not just about finding the courage to talk; even within families, meaningful connection is fading. Nearly half (54%) of us believe families are less emotionally connected than they were 20 years ago. It is saddening. There is some good news though: a monstrous 82% believe that talking about worries and concerns is beneficial for mental well-being. And what's the key to unlocking these conversations? You guessed it: 27% said that regularly sharing a cuppa and a biscuit would make them more likely to open up, the more biscuits, the more opening up 😉. McVitie's and Mind aren't just highlighting a problem here; they're offering a solution. In a world that constantly demands our attention, taking time for a genuine conversation can feel like a groundbreaking act. Last week, to mark World Mental Health Day, I organised a 'Walk & Talk' event to give my colleagues at Mando the chance to take a break, reset and enjoy the benefits of walking for mental wellbeing.
