Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, and this year’s theme - mental health in the workplace - is something we think needs attention every day of the year.   With two qualified Mental Health First Aiders at M+F, we know just how important it is to check in on each other and create a workplace where everyone feels comfortable discussing their mental health, and team members who need support can access it.   As MHFA England® puts it: its time to prioritise mental health in the workplace 💚 #WMHD2024

It's World Mental Health Day! This year, focusing on prioritising mental health in the workplace. When we talk about prioritising mental health, it's important to recognise that every workplace is unique. However, there are key actions all organisations can take to ensure employee mental health remains a priority. Our Chief Executive, Sarah McIntosh, explains more in this blog post: https://lnkd.in/g47-G-xk #WMHD2024 #WMHD24 #WorkplaceMentalHealth #WorkplaceWellbeing #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceMentalHealthTraining #MentalHealthFirstAid (Image description: A carousel of four slides. Yesterday, M+Fers - Lisa, Rachael and Sean were busy capturing fresh content for one of our clients! 🎥 Their mission: to film engaging footage for the client's corporate social channels, as part of the comprehensive social media strategy we've developed. From AI explainers to job role insights and snackable science content, they filmed 19 people throughout the day - and had lots of fun too! 🙌

Paw-some press 🐾 Over the past few months, we have been raising awareness among UK pet owners of the importance of good pet health and expert vet advice.🐶🐱   We are absolutely delighted with how the campaign has taken off, having secured 16 pieces of coverage, across online and broadcast media with a whopping media reach of over 3 million! 🌟 This included message-rich articles mentioning our client's spokesperson and TV's Rory the Vet in the Daily Star and Dogs Business Professional. But that’s not all— the campaign has also made its mark on the airwaves! Our spokespeople conducted 13 interviews, including a feature on BBC’s ‘Barking at the Moon’ with Joanne Good and Anna Webb 📻 We’re over the moon with how the campaign has resonated with pet owners and the media alike. It’s been a purr-fectly pawsitive experience! 🐕🐾

As party conference season kicks into gear, some of the M+F team headed down to sunny Brighton for the Liberal Democrats Conference 🔶   It was great to hear from Lib Dem MPs about their health policy priorities and their plans for this Parliament as they consider their impact as the third largest party in the Commons. The team also attended a panel event hosted by IPPR, where the new Chair Elect of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, Layla Moran, led an insightful discussion on the role of the Lib Dems in opposition, key healthcare challenges, and her plans to keep social care high on the agenda💡   Next stop for the team: Liverpool, where we’ll be attending Labour Conference! #LDConf #LDPC24 #HealthPolicy #SocialCare #Healthcare #Wellbeing

Last week our very own Sarah and Kirsty had the pleasure of attending the Medical Journalists' Awards, celebrating the best in health and care journalism! 🏆   The event kicked off with an insightful talk from Shaun Lintern, Health Editor at The Sunday Times, who highlighted the critical role medical journalists play in informing the public - especially in an age of misinformation. His words were a powerful reminder of how strong, accurate reporting is a vital component of public health 📰   It was inspiring to see some of the best health stories recognised and to witness first-hand what good looks like in medical journalism. Huge congratulations to all the winners and nominees! 👏    #MedicalJournalism #MJAwards #HealthcareCommunications #HealthJournalism #CelebratingExcellence 📷 Creds - MJA and Vicki Sharp Photography

Yesterday, Lord Darzi published the findings from his Independent Investigation into the state of the National Health Service, which warned that the health service is in ‘serious trouble’.   Our Senior Political Advisor, the former Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, Steve Brine, offered his views on the report:   “The Darzi report pulls together useful existing data and sets out the challenges facing the NHS. Politically, it succeeds in reinforcing Labour’s ‘broken Britain’ strategy and narrative, shaping the terms of debate for what is to come in the Budget and Spending Review on 30th October. How to ‘fix’ the NHS though will have to wait for the publication of the Government’s 10-Year Plan in the spring. The ambition of Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting is to reform the health service and bring about a shift from hospital to community, from analogue to digital, and from treatment to prevention. Achieving this will require much harder thinking and ‘tough choices’, as the Prime Minister is fond of warning, but ‘tough choices’ don’t come any tougher than in health policy.”   If you're interested in hearing more of Steve's insights on health policy, you can tune into his podcast ‘Prevention is the new cure’: https://lnkd.in/gNFTZ5Xv.

This morning we hosted a fantastic breakfast roundtable in the heart of Whitehall, bringing together industry leaders, patient advocacy groups, charities, and professional groups. ☕ 🥐 The event was chaired by our Senior Political Adviser, Steve Brine, who welcomed Chief Executive of Labour Together, Jonathan Ashworth to provide his insights into Labour's political strategy, the workings of a 'mission-led' administration, and his new role at Labour Together. 🎯    Thank you to everyone who joined us! If you'd like to discuss the event's outcomes or join a future M+F Health event, please reach out. 🙌
