What a way to end the week! I had the pleasure of attending the Bristol Young Heroes Awards on Friday night, an event that never fails to inspire. The event celebrated incredible young people in Bristol who have overcome adversity, made impactful contributions to their communities, or achieved extraordinary feats. Proud moment for our team: my brother Dougie Allward created the compelling videos showcasing each nominee’s story, which were displayed on four big screens throughout the night. His dedication and creativity truly shone through. It’s events like these that remind us of the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on our communities. Huge congratulations to Community of Purpose CIC, Amy Kington, Gemma B. for pulling of yet another fantastic event!

Did you know that small charities make up 97% of the sector? I feel incredibly fortunate to work with these organisations, amplifying their impactful work. I've seen firsthand the difference they make in our communities, especially in these challenging times. This week is Small Charity Week, a perfect opportunity to remember to LOVE: Listen and Learn: I will learn what small charities do in my neighbourhood. Organise: I will get my community involved with small charities. Volunteer: I will support small charities with my time, voice and money. Engage: I will do a bit more to make my community better. I had a great start to the week yesterday exploring the beautiful Birmingham Botanical Gardens and talking to some amazing people at the Consultants for Good conference 'Growing our Impact'. My perfectionism almost prevented Made for Impact from being a finalist at the Bristol Life Awards I initially hesitated, feeling we weren't ready, but thankfully Sonny Allward took no notice of that and reminded me of all the good that we do, and the impact we have on the people we work with. The announcement still came as a shock, we didn't get into the arts & creative category as we expected... But even better, we landed in the 'Civic' category. This highlights the contribution we've made to our city and our commitment to developing others and our charity work, which is exactly what we set out to do! So to be recognised for it means a lot. Reflecting on this journey, I've come to appreciate the significance of celebrating every achievement, no matter how small. It's a mindset shift that has transformed my perspective, fueling a newfound appreciation for our accomplishments. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. I'm so grateful to be accepted onto the NatWest Accelerator programme 🚀 It's a fantastic opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs on a similar journey whilst working on Made for Impact and my individual journey. Our new short film showcases two Step and Stone trainees at their places of employment. We are so proud of Alfie and Helen, and all they have achieved since being supported into work by Step and Stone. They have both become incredibly valued team members who are breaking barriers and changing perceptions on the capabilities of people with a learning difference. We hope this film inspires more people to dream big in their careers, and encourages employers to expand their work force and hire inclusively.
