This relies on growth and financial sustainability – and importantly public sector reform, devolution and longer term settlements and greater flexibilities that allow for decisions to be made locally, accompanied of course by an accountability framework and restoring trust in public servants and politicians. A mission-based approach should move more towards outcomes, not outputs. A couple of months into the new government, what are the early signs for improved financial sustainability of our public services, and the accountability that comes with this? 🎙️Meet Owen Mapley, Chief Executive Officer of CIPFA, Before joining CIPFA Owen was the Chief Executive of Hertfordshire City Council, with other leadership roles as lead local authority Chief Executive for the East of England region and as Vice Chair of the Association of County Chief Executives.
