  • LEBC’s Busiest Period for Auditing Alternative Provisions Did you know LEBC also audit Alternative Provisions. On average, we audit 50 Alternative Provisions a year to support the partnerships/LPS and schools. LEBC work in close partnership and link with local authorities, safeguarding in education teams, LADO, Ofsted Illegal school teams and other agencies - to have a multi-agency approach to safeguarding learners while at the provision. If a school uses our services, they will have access to valuable and up to date information concerning the Alternative Provisions they might utilise for their students and will be informed of issues or concerns to protect their students. All learners will have a named risk assessment, and the commissioner will get a detailed audit report of all the checks LEBC have made. We recently audited Anstey Alpacas, a local Alternative Provision. Matt, the owner of the provision has shared his feedback on LEBC’s services. “Anstey Alpacas are now in the fifth year of working with LEBC. The support, from LEBC, from day one has been to a very high standard and there is always somebody at the end of the phone or email should you have any questions. The auditing and paperwork trail is thorough, but importantly, it is supportive and self-reflecting on our own processes. The staff at LEBC do not rush you to make decisions but are able to provide very good advice. Throughout the year, there are numerous CPD sessions which LEBC highlight for you to support the development of the provision and its team. We are very pleased with what LEBC provides for our provision, as we feel that we are achieving to a certain level, but due to the on-going changes and developments LEBC are sure to 'push' us further to achieve at an even higher standard.” If you are an Alternative Provision, in need of support or an audit, or simply want to know more about our services and how we can help, please get in touch with Kate Wardle, LEBC’s Health & Safety Manager – [email protected] or call 0116 240 7000. Here's Kate meeting just a few of the Anstey Alpacas!

  • Partnership in Action - Igniting Young People's Passion for Aviation and Space Careers 🚀 ✈️ 💡 The LEBC STEM Team hosted the annual Sir Isaac Newton Lecture, alongside SkyConnect on Wednesday, 9th October 2024, at Skegness Academy, offering students a rare chance to engage with top experts in the Aviation, Aerospace, and Space industries. This year's event was proudly sponsored by AeroDiscover, further enhancing the experience for attendees. Themed around "Space Sustainability: Earth's Orbits at Risk," the lecture featured a keynote address by Jennifer Barry of the UK Space Agency. Her thought-provoking presentation shed light on the growing challenges and opportunities within space exploration, capturing the imaginations of the students in attendance and emphasizing the urgent need for responsible management of Earth’s orbital environment. The event also featured a series of dynamic TED-style talks from leading industry professionals. Chris Gorton from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) provided insights into the future of aviation, focusing on the transformative potential of eVTOLs and drones. Luke Cabot introduced the audience to a breakthrough in sustainable aviation fuel, and additional speakers covered a range of cutting-edge topics, from space exploration to Chinook helicopter engineering and the life of a Typhoon Fighter pilot.   The lecture was a tremendous success, inspiring the next generation of aviators, engineers, and space professionals while offering an invaluable glimpse into the latest innovations shaping these exciting fields. • Leicestershire Education Business Company and Farndon Fields Primary School came together to tackle Sustainability. 🌿 💡 🌿 LEBC hosted a series of workshops with 50 of the primary school students to raise awareness of Sustainability and educate the young students on how they can make a positive impact, whilst building vital key skills. Throughout the day the children were supported by Year 11 students from Welland Park Academy (a local secondary school) and one of LEBC’s employer partners. LEBC STEM volunteer, Dale Powell from Wates Group came along to motivate and inspire the young people throughout the day. LEBC’s work brings together employers and young people in support of building connections and raising awareness of careers and specific sectors, in this case, growing sectors such as Green Careers and Sustainability. Dale said of the event, “I had a great day! The event was well run, the kids were engaged throughout, and the instructions were simple to follow but enlaced with competency skills throughout." Farndon Fields Primary School’s Headteacher shared her and the students feedback, when sharing, “I have heard so many positives from the careers day! One child declared it the best day at school ever!” Well done to all involved.
