It's all about #systemic #risk. If you ever wanted a half hour version of the System-level Investing course that William Burckart and I teach in the Sustainable Investing Research Initiative (SIRI) at Columbia | SIPA, this is the #podcast for you. Jacob Shah and Laasya S. interview me about #systemlevelinvesting in this podcast from LCP, a major UK #pension consultant. Following a nice short summary from LCP's @Sapna Patel of the state of #sustainableinvesting in the UK, we get into the strengths and weaknesses of #modernportfoliotheory, what #assetmanagers and #assetowners really think of as #risk. We also go through the tools #investors can use to mitigate systemic risks. Hint: They involve taking action in the real world. https://lnkd.in/eX_ty_qw

Our latest survey shows that investment managers have ramped up their responsible investment (RI) efforts over the past two years. But is this effort driving real-world impact? The survey's key findings: 🔍 More managers are working towards net zero, but many expect a disorderly or failed transition. 🔍Board oversight of RI is up, yet only 25% of managers require RI training for board members. 🔍Formal escalation policies and independent voting are on the rise, though engagement still lacks focus and proactivity. 🔍While some managers engage with policymakers, efforts are often sporadic and lack focus on systemic financial risks.
