That’s why #KMCSN, iCSS (Institute of Cyber Security for Society), University of Kent and KMCC (Kent & Medway Cyber Cluster Ltd) are proud to partner with organisations like National Cyber Security Centre's #CyberFirst programme on their annual CyberFirst Girls #Competition. Year 8 #girls in #Kent and #Medway #secondary #schools can team up to take on a whole host of #challenges – #cryptography to #ArtificialIntelligence. And the winner will take home some really cool #prizes and be crowned regional girls’ competition champions. KMCSN is a local schools network for #cyber #skills development for #pupils, #teachers and school staff. We welcome all local #schools and FE #colleges to join the Network to co-develop more pre-university cyber skills development activities in #Kent and #Medway. We cover #cybersecurity and also #online #safety, so both #ComputerScience/#ICT/#Computing and #PSHE #education are within scope. We also work with schools on their #safeguarding function, especially on the online safety elements. KMCSN was co-founded by iCSS (Institute of Cyber Security for Society), University of Kent, KMCC (Kent & Medway Cyber Cluster Ltd), and The STEM Hub managed by Canterbury Christ Church University (#CCCU) in 2023. On 30th September Monday evening, #KMCC organised its September informal meet-up at The Unicorn Inn in Canterbury. We had a relaxing evening and talked about work and life, and of course #cyber #security as well! We have all made some new connections and some of us have started discussing collaboration after the meet-up! Our next informal meet-up is planned in early November and we plan to go to Ashford - the very centrally located town in the #Kent and #Medway region. After the successful #NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) #CyberFirst #Girls #Competition Familiarisation Day on 8th October, which was hosted by Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, we are organising a second such event on 5th November at The Folkestone School for Girls. The event is part of our school outreach activities for KMCSN (Kent & Medway CyberSchools Network), a local schools network on cyber skills development co-founded by iCSS, KMCC (Kent & Medway Cyber Cluster Ltd) and The STEM Hub. Different from the first event, for the second event we will also get help from KMCS3 (Kent & Medway Cyber Security Student Society) as part of their #CyberWomen activities. Local schools in #Kent and #Medway are all welcome to participate the second event by filling the registration form below by Friday 25th October 5pm.
