At Kiloh (part of LaBella), we've been ‘energised’ by our involvement in the development of Battery Energy Storage Sites (BESS). Here's a glimpse into our journey: What is Battery Energy Storage? Battery energy storage involves using batteries to store electrical energy for later use. It helps balance energy supply and demand, especially with renewable sources like solar and wind that fluctuate. The stored energy can be used during peak demand times, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Battery storage systems contribute to grid stability and reliability, support renewable integration, and can provide backup power during planned or unplanned outages. They offer flexibility, cost savings, and enhance overall energy system resilience. Battery energy storage sites harness renewable energy sources, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimising carbon footprint. What are We Doing? In recent years, our team has provided a wide range of consultancy and engineering design support to our clients including: 1. Site selection, site reconnaissance and feasibility studies (ecology, geo-environmental, flood risk, transport, landscape & visual); 2. Planning support; 3. EIA; 4. Public consultation; 5. Detailed engineering design; and, 6. Construction support. Collaboration has been key. We've partnered with BESS developers, planners and contractors providing comprehensive support and design services in bringing these sites to fruition. Project Visualisation One of the key areas in which our team has been actively involved with has been the creation of realistic visualisations for projects using Autodesk's Infraworks software. We can generate accurate 3D visualisations for almost any project as well as allowing for real-time modifications to be undertaken during design team meetings to accommodate site constraints, visualise design options and communicate design intent.
