About us

Headquartered in London, “K” Line LNG Shipping (UK) Limited is working as a ship manager, ship owner and regional agent to support and strengthen “K” Line group’s business activities within Europe, and the wider Atlantic region, namely in the marine transportation of LNG. Since the opening, we have over time taken delivery of ten LNG carriers, and currently in the middle of the next phase of fleet expansion. As a Group, “K” Line has a significant history within LNG marine transportation, having operated in this field from the head office in Tokyo, Japan, since the late 1970s. For the last decade “K” Line has had a strategic business aim to expand its activities in the Atlantic region – to develop and operate from business hubs close to its customers, and as such established “K” Line LNG Shipping (UK) Limited, a 100 per cent subsidiary, in 2005. Our newly formed corporate mission formulated by our senior officers and shore side management is to: “Help our stakeholders achieve their goals by carrying energy safely”, where energy is both the cargo that we transport as well as motivated and energized personnel onboard and ashore. Towards 2020 we are taking steps to grow our fleet according to our business goals, but also to grow our people to build an organizational culture that is line with our values: Pro-activeness, People, Professionalism, Safety and Quality. In 2020 we want to measure our success on “living our values” and “reaching our business goals”.

  • Today on the 25th June, we celebrate Day of the Seafarer, a day to acknowledge and appreciate all the work seafarers do day in and day out to help keep goods travelling around the globe. This year, the IMO theme was ‘Your Top Tips for Safety at Sea’, and to mark this we ran a fleet-wide competition for our vessels to find the ‘best’ Best Practice safety solution of 2024, so far! We received some brilliant suggestions to improve safety onboard, and some great solutions to help prioritise safe working. After lots of deliberation, it was decided that our vessel Al Oraiq was the winner with their Best Practice creating an enclosed space location monitoring sheet, to help make enclosed space entry safer. Well done!   Thank you to our seafarers who, every day, help make sure our industry can be a safer one, through acting as leaders in safety and raising suggestions such as best practices to help improve. And thank you to all seafarers around the world for helping to keep the world moving!   #KLNG #DayoftheSeafarer

  • Last week we had our Officer’s Conference in Bohol, Philippines with some of our Filipino senior and junior officers. It was a good opportunity to meet some new faces and reconnect with familiar ones! We were also able to discuss our new corporate goals and how all of us in KLNG play a role in helping us reach them, and managed to have some time for beach team games!   Thank you to all who attended for being open with us and for sharing opinions and suggestions. It was a great occasion for close collaboration and we look forward to more in the future! #klng #officersconference #collaboration

  • Exciting news!! In December 2022, we were awarded the ship management contracts of the first two Northern Lights Project vessels, which are currently 75% completed and will be delivered later this year. Since then, our team has been working hard on the preparation of the delivery of the two vessels. Today we are thrilled to share that we will be managing the project fleet’s third vessel as well! We are extremely excited to take part in the world’s first CCS project by Nothern Lights and contributing to decarbonisation and a sustainable society! We will share more of the journey!

We are pleased to expand our partnership with “K” LINE with the signing of Bare Boat Charter and Time Charter contracts for the management of our third CO2 ship. This follows the formerly signed contracts for managing the first two 7,500 m3 liquefied CO2 ships, in Northern Lights’ four ship fleet, that will be delivered in 2024. "The recent contracts to build and operate the third and fourth ships signify an increase in Northern Lights’ shipping capacity and reinforce our pioneering role in CO2 transport”, said Northern Lights Managing Director Borre Jacobsen. • Happy New Year from KLNG! During the holiday period, whilst running the ships as usual, there were quite a few inspections and machinery trouble shootings etc that kept our teams busy, but that were managed by our ship and shore teams collaboratively and successfully. We still managed to grab a chance to celebrate the achievement of the year and to wish the better for 2024 over very nice food, with special efforts from galley team onboard!   In 2023, we launched "K"ARE Ramp-up Campaign to give a boost to our safety culture initiative -"K"ARE Programme that's been running since 2015. (https://lnkd.in/e7ZzgH2Z) We started already quite a few activities and we are excited to continue in 2024 and share more about it!

Last week, we had an officers’ conference in Split, Croatia. Always it’s such a nice time to catch up in person not only for work but also personally. It was a great opportunity to share more about our new LCO2 project, and also to have a very initial discussion on our new mid-term goals. We also had a kick-off of the “K”ARE Ramp-up campaign onboard and interactive discussions for each topics prepared. It was also amazing to see the outcome of the ship building activity – the quality and the teamwork that made it possible were completely beyond expectations! We also got a chance to toast to a happy retirement to Captain Drago Jerolimov who’s been with us since 2007. Wish him all the best! Many of our officers have been there with us for a long time and we've been through successes and also the tough times together. There will always be challenges around us, but we are reassured that strengthening our team is the way to manage those challenges successfully!

  • Today is World Maritime Day, marked at the end of September each year, to recognise the importance of the Maritime Industry. And to mark the occasion, did you know that many phrases in everyday language, particularly in English, have nautical roots? ‘All hands on deck’, ‘learning the ropes’ and many other expressions are nautical terms that have found their way into everyday use; going to show the influence of the Maritime industry on our everyday lives! We would like to say a big thank you to all in the industry including our seafarers for helping to keep the world and its goods moving. Picture courtesy of one of our vessels, Arctic Voyager! #WorldMaritimeDay #seafarers #maritime #shipping
