Following a sold-out performance at the Camden People's Theatre, we're pleased to welcome "Solomon" to the JW3 stage in a couple of weeks. The play tells the story of Simeon Solomon, a Queer Jewish Pre-Raphaelite painter, delving into his journey of self-discovery, set against the backdrop of a Victorian world characterised by harsh judgment. Solomon navigates the complexities of his desires and aspirations, all the while existing in a world that casts a critical eye upon those who deviate from societal expectations. Join us for pizza and refreshments, and a screening of the comic-tragic film, Past Continuous. Past Continuous charts the journey through the history of the LGBTQI+ struggle for rights and recognition through the two unique, funny and honest characters, Ilan Buchman and Oscar Shub. The making of the film followed their marriage after their then relationship of 47 years (now 53 years), which took place at the Emanuel Synagogue, Sydney. It was the first same sex marriage under the legislation in any religious institution in Australia. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Ilan and Oscar.
