A project to build a new pumping station at Wrangle on the Lincolnshire coast is nearing completion. The work, by a Jackson team on behalf of the Witham Fourth District IDB (W4IDB), started in July last year and now only the installation of some protective fencing is required for the scheme to be finished. The scheme designer was Stantec and the MEICA supply chain partner is Aquatic Control Engineering (ACE). Significant piling work by SPUK was required to construct the new pumping station and a 100t crane needed to lift in the two Archimedes screw pumps. The old pumping station was demolished and removed. The new pumping station provides flood protection for a catchment area of approximately 2,169ha of mostly prime agricultural land but also containing 117 residential and 26 commercial properties. #floodprotection #pumpingstation #wrangle #goodworks

A straight-talking, no nonsense Civil Engineering Contractor
About us
Jackson is a straight-talking no nonsense Civil Engineering Contractor. We operate across the UK and undertake civil engineering projects across a variety of different sectors including highways, bridges, infrastructure, flood defence, energy and rail. We're quite a talented bunch and also undertake ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) commissions through our dedicated division 'Jackson Solutions'. We're privately owned which means we're free to make our own decisions - we're not controlled by a distant group of shareholders. We operate out of seven regional offices, which means our local knowledge in these areas is second to none, and it's great for our guys too because we make sure they get home every night.

It's #WorldMentalHealthDay “Raising awareness reduces the stigma associated with mental illness..." - so says one of Jackson's recently-trained Mental Health First Aiders. In total, Jackson has 92 trained Mental Health First Aiders, of which 27 have attended training in 2024. People take the course, so they can spot the signs of mental ill health and provide initial support to staff who need assistance. It is National Customer Service Week, so a good time for Jackson’s Public Liaison Officers (PLOs) and Stakeholder Managers to get together. The team work across Jackson’s regions but took time out recently to meet up at the company’s head office in Ipswich. The PLO role has developed across the business in recent years, as client demand for stakeholder engagement and initiatives aimed at the communities where we are working has grown. Last week’s gathering was an opportunity to share best practice around stakeholder engagement, plan social value events and discuss customer service strategy. It’s what we call #goodworks. #NationalCustomerServiceWeek #socialvalue #stakeholders

Jackson is supporting the Yorkshire Trackrod Rally, which takes place this weekend – September 27/28. Our involvement has come about because Jackson is working on the repair of the seawall in Filey Bay, on behalf of North Yorkshire Council. The sea front at #Filey is the backdrop for the start and finish of the rally, and the company’s support underlines its status as a major event for attracting visitors to the town and the surrounding area. Jackson held its annual Engineers Day event at a sunny Wyboston Lakes Resort near Bedford earlier this week. It was a chance for engineers across our regions to get together, discuss key issues and listen to a number presentations before taking part in a soapbox go-kart challenge in the afternoon. A great day. #engineers #engineersday #civilengineering #goodworks

Jackson’s most northern project is up and running. We are leading the work on a £2.95M project to repair and refurbish the seawall at the coastal town of #Filey on behalf of North Yorkshire Council. The vital improvements to the wall façade, access points, slipways and sections of the promenade edge are due to be completed by Spring 2025. The Jackson team is also installing protection measures to ensure erosion is mitigated along the southern end of the beach. All in all, the seawall protects 800 properties and five Yorkshire Water assets. Works started after the schools went back, to minimise disruption to businesses and residents, and after members of the Jackson team met people to talk through the scheme at a recent public engagement event. #northyorkshire #coastalprotection #civilengineering #goodworks
