About us
Inventum Group is a talent consultancy providing inclusive people solutions. Located in London & Amsterdam, we deliver strategic ED&I consulting, executive search and recruitment, helping organisations to engage, hire and retain diverse talent, and build an inclusive working environment. Inventum means ‘discovery’. We discover great talent, and innovative ways of working. We want to change the world, one company at a time, by helping organisations to benefit from the value of equity, diversity and inclusion. Organisations that embrace ED&I are more likely to be successful than their non-inclusive competitors. We believe that different voices, with different lived experiences, should be heard. From that collective wisdom comes creativity and innovation, driving organisational performance in the digital age. But different voices can only be heard in an organisation that embraces inclusion and fosters a strong sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of background, identity and characteristics. Last Friday, on World Mental Health Day, we asked how you were feeling, and while the results weren't surprising, they were still deeply impactful. The majority of respondents shared that they were feeling anxious, overwhelmed, sad, or angry. These responses remind us of an important truth: we never truly know what someone else might be feeling. It could be the person sitting quietly next to you at Starbucks or the driver waiting at the traffic lights. It's a reminder that we don’t just fall into categories of “happy” or “sad” and there’s a complex range of emotions many are navigating, and for the majority, it’s feelings of overwhelm and anxiety. In a world that’s constantly on the move, let’s take a moment to be kind, patient, and understanding, especially in the work environment, empathy is one of strongest qualities an individual can have, particularly if you are a leader. You never know what someone might be carrying, and your empathy could make all the difference.

‼️ Please read: As we champion diversity and inclusion at Inventum Group looking at our data is a weekly, if not daily occurrence and our recent search highlights a troubling reality. After the interview stage, Black candidates face significantly lower placement rates compared to other ethnic groups, especially white candidates. According to the numbers, only 18% of Black candidates are placed in roles after the interview, compared to over 35% of white candidates. This means that Black candidates are nearly twice as likely to be rejected post-interview than their white counterparts. These figures expose the gaps in diversity efforts, signalling that bias persists, particularly at the final, most decisive stage of the hiring process. We must ask: why are Black candidates, after being deemed qualified enough for interviews, still disproportionately rejected? This is more than just a disparity—it’s a systemic issue. In the spirit of Black History Month, this data should not only spark conversation but provoke immediate action. Organisations must do more than just talk about diversity; they need to critically assess their recruitment and decision-making processes to ensure Black candidates have fair opportunities from interview to hire. What makes this even more pressing is that this data is drawn directly from our own database, reflecting real trends within recruitment. This is not just an isolated issue but a widespread problem across the industry. These numbers demand change, and if not now, when? It’s time to eliminate the bias that prevents Black candidates from being fairly placed and to hold organizations accountable for turning promises of diversity into reality. We would love to get your thoughts and spark some meaningful conversation in the comments below: #Blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #diversity #inclusion #diversityandinclusion
