International Journal of Testing: Measure invariance with intersectional variables. Measurement invariance is a fundamental concept in psychological measurement. The approach is often used in to check whether an instrument functions the same way across categorical groups. This article from Rujun Xu and James Soland presents an excellent applied demonstration of moderated non-linear factor analysis (MNLFA), a method that can handle measurement invariance across intersectional variables (e.g., age and gender at the same time). 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐓𝐂 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐓𝐂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒,𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 As a seasoned attendee of numerous conferences during my doctoral studies, ITC 2024 in Granada marked my first experience as a Psychometric Researcher (Mercer Mettl) in the assessment industry. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏: The conference began with an exceptional short course on Response Bias by Ricardo Primi and Felipe Valentini. This “9-hour intellectual marathon,” as Pavlos Stampoulidis aptly described it, concluded with Anna Brown's enlightening session on Ipsative Data. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐: I had the honour of presenting my work on the #Cybersecurity Risk Framework in front of esteemed experts in the field. Dr. Nicky Hayes kindly shared her book with me, which was a truly uplifting and cherished gesture. The day featured the inspiring ITC Presidential Address by Stephen Sireci and an insightful EFPA and BPS Test Review Model symposium by Dr Charlie Eyre, Nigel Evans, and other BPS members. The keynote by Dr. Alina von Davier was a highlight. She left us with numerous innovative research ideas and unaddressed gaps in AI and Proctoring. I cherished all my fantastic catch-ups with Devasmita Ghosh, Nicola Taylor, Anubhav Nathani, Clara To, Anita Rintala-Rasmus, and everyone I met while exploring Granada. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟑: The day featured engaging sessions on Neurodivergent Talent, Responding Styles, and Success Factors by Dr. Rainer Kurz, followed by the ITC general meeting. Dr. Claudia Gusso, I look forward to contributing to the ITC Outreach Committee. The Gala Dinner at Carmen de los Martires was a highlight, brimming with stimulating conversations. Special thanks to Steve Dept, Dr Justin August, Pakeezah Rajab, Bhavana Srirangam and Qiwei He for their enlightening insights. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟒: Jennifer Randall's keynote was a standout. I am proud to be part of the Diversity and Justice Committee at ITC. I also had a wonderful catch-up with Anthropologist Lidia Jendzjowsky. Stephen Sireci's impressive "𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑛" ceremony was unlike anything I've seen before. Congratulations, Prof. Kadriye Ercikan, on your ITC Presidentship. Special thanks to Luis Manuel Lozano for being such a wonderful, encouraging, and supportive presence. Thank you for an amazing experience, ITC! Looking forward to #ITC2026, Auckland. Attending the ITC conference for the first time was an exciting experience, even though it took me slightly out of my comfort zone, as most attendees came from a psychological background. It was fascinating to learn about their research and interests, and I look forward to collaborating with them in the future to support the development of onscreen assessments. Co-presenting the TIMSS Equivalence study with Grace Grima was a highlight, and we received very positive feedback from renowned scholars. Huge thanks to our co-authors Kevin Mason Sebastian Nastuta, PhD, and contributors Sarah Turner @Mish Mohan and our Pearson Mathematics experts who have been supporting this project since December 2022. Without you, this project wouldn't be possible. I also participated in two insightful short courses: Thank you Alina von Davier & International Test Commission for accommodating me in the fully booked course on using generative AI to create test items and AI marking Duanli. Special thanks to Qiwei He, Esther Ulitzsch and Bernard Veldkamp for the engaging and insightful course on process data. The conference featured many interesting sessions on eye-tracking, AI, remote proctoring, and DE&I. I thoroughly enjoyed greeting scholars from all over the world, meeting our Pearson colleagues from the UK David McVeigh Sharon Hague and US teams Heather Klesch, joining the open discussions, and having such a pleasant gala dinner.
