The greatest achievement of the North American Conference on Integrated Care 2024 (NACIC24) was the genuine inclusion of people with lived experience in every stage of the conference – from planning and participation to presentation. This intentional approach was visible, with a lived experience speaker featured at every plenary, panel, and most sessions. Kudos to the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC) and the planning team for prioritizing this meaningful involvement. As we move forward, it’s essential to sustain this focus on equal participation by those with lived experience in designing, developing, and assessing integrated care models and systems. Reflecting on three standout messages from NACIC24 keynotes and plenaries, all underscore the importance of valuing people, relationships, and connection: 💡  “Connection is the correction” (Jodeme Goldhar) – Emphasizing meaningful engagement as the pathway to true alignment.    💡 “Change moves at the speed of trust” (Georgina Black) – Reminding us that trust-building is fundamental to transformation.    💡 “Stories are medicine” (@Asha Croggon) – Acknowledging the power of narrative to heal and inspire. These insights reinforce that integrated care can only be achieved through genuine engagement and co-design. Creating sustainable change requires can only be achieved when there’s a commitment to truly understanding the lived experiences of those for whom the system exists—the patients and families. At NACIC24, I had the privilege of sharing the stage with Terrence H. to showcase the power of validating and honouring lived experience to drive system change. We discussed how his Impact Narrative™️, delivered as a keynote speech, at the Ontario Caregiver Organization’s February 2024 Caregivers as Partners in Care Roundtable, set the tone for transformational discussions. Impact Narratives™️ bring lived experience to the forefront, aligning personal stories with strategic goals to foster change. This approach to integrating lived experience deeply resonated with people at our session, and it was underscored over the three-day conference. I’m excited to see this momentum extend beyond #NACIC24. Thank you, IFIC, Jodeme Goldhar, Walter Wodchis and the entire team for creating this vital platform for growth and transformation.
