Excited to be in Manchester for a landmark Green Party Conference, the first since the party secured four new MPs in the General Election! Though Co-Leader Carla Denyer MP was unable to attend due to illness, Co-Leader Adrian Ramsay MP delivered a powerful address. He emphasised working with the Government on issues like lifting the onshore wind ban, expanding renewable energy, and renationalising key services, while holding them accountable on other critical matters. Ramsay also stressed the need for stronger support for sustainable farming, ambitious climate targets, and transforming all sectors of the economy. He also highlighted that public ownership of water companies is essential to tackle the sewage crisis in our waters. It was also good to hear the importance of tackling Islamaphobia from the root of society. On a personal note, it was great to bump into former Green Party leader and former MP Caroline Lucas. Looking forward to more meaningful conversations during the conference!

We're delighted to announce the redesign of our Diverse Sustainability Initiative website, designed to be a collaborative programme of work with the vision to transform #diversity within the #sustainability profession and wider #environment sector, working collectively with partners in the environment or sustainability profession to drive change. IEMA's Senior Diverse Sustainability Officer, Caris Graham said: "This rebrand reflects the journey of the initiative since its launch in March 2021. Over time, the structure and purpose have grown; we no longer just hold partners accountable but also focus on educating and connecting. "By prioritising collaboration, we strive to make equity, diversity, and inclusion a collective mission, not a competition." 🌍 Excited to share that I wrote an article for the IEMA’s Aug Sept 2024 Transform magazine. In the article, I discuss the crucial role of diverse experiences and voices in driving positive change within the sustainability sector. I delve into how my varied upbringing and education have played a crucial role in my sustainability journey and also share some insight into why I founded Your Sustainable Friend. It was great working with both Sharon Maguire and Rebecca Turner to get this published. ©IEMA Transform Aug Sept 2024 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/d-T_hMMK #Sustainability #Diversity #Inclusion #Intersectionality #CSR #ESG #ClimateChange #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalJustice #TransformMagazine #YourSustainableFriend #BlackVoicesInGreen

Climate change and the global loss of biodiversity are twin crises that need to be tackled together. To create a greener future, we must act swiftly and decisively, and we need green skills to do so. 🌍 IEMA is spearheading a campaign at this year’s COP summits to drive real action — and we need your support. Our #GreenSkillsAtCOP campaign demands that countries meeting at COP prioritise green education, skills, and jobs. At the UN COP16 Biodiversity Summit in Colombia and COP29 Climate Summit in Azerbaijan, countries will develop and update their National Action Plans to tackle these twin crises. However, a commitment to invest in green skills that are essential for delivering these plans is so far still absent. IEMA will be reaching out to UK Ministers and COP presidents, advocating for this cause. We urge you to visit https://lnkd.in/eSGs7zt6 and add your name to the campaign.
