This year’s programme will open with a keynote address by Paul Brand, Group Chief Executive, Convex Insurance (United Kingdom), who will share his insights on the future of the insurance sector. Key sessions will focus on how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), are transforming underwriting and claims processes. The event will also address the impact of climate-related litigation, new liability risks such as forever chemicals, and the increased complexity of managing casualty catastrophes. Canadian ICMIF member Co-operators has officially opened its new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Guelph, Ontario. The environmentally sustainable building, designed to support employee well-being and reduce carbon emissions, consolidates five southern Ontario locations into one 226,000 sq. ft. facility. The new office is part of Co-operators’ larger commitment to #sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint. The building began welcoming employees in August this year and is on track to achieve a series of prestigious certifications for its green design, including LEED Gold, Boma Best, and Zero Carbon Building Design certification, reflecting its alignment with Co-operators’ #climategoals. Already a carbon-neutral organisation since 2020, Co-operators is aiming to cut 45% of its operational emissions by 2030, with a target of #netzero by 2040. Beyond its green credentials, the headquarters is also a showcase for employee wellness. The building features a range of communal spaces including indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, walking trails, patios, and a sport court. Agents and staff at NFU Mutual agencies across the UK have nominated more than 300 charities across the country in 2024 to receive a total donation of GBP 1.92million from NFU Mutual’s national ‘Agency Giving Fund’. The Fund forms part of ICMIF member NFU Mutual’s GBP 3.25m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2024 to assist with the ongoing recovery from the pandemic and the impact of the rising cost of living. It is now in its fifth year, and NFU Mutual says it is proud to have distributed a total of GBP 8.76m to champion the vital work of small, local, charities all across the UK. Gary Thomson, Head of Agency at NFU Mutual, added: “Thank you to Agents and their staff for their fantastic support, once again. We’re very grateful for their time to make the charity nominations.
