A multi-skilled consultancy that helps make better places.
About us
At Iceni Projects we believe that everything we do is ultimately about people – and as a consultancy operating within the built environment, for people read place. A place to live, to work, to play. To grow up; to grow old. A sense of place. Everything in its place. A time and a place. We are fortunate at Iceni to be able to call upon colleagues with a myriad of qualifications, specialisms and backgrounds, from archaeology to transport, operating across the country from four world class cities. However, what links us all is the belief that we can create better places by working collectively and collaboratively. So whether you choose to work with one individual or many, a planner or sustainability consultant, we put a commitment to place at the heart of what we do. We firmly believe in the principles of sustainable development. We practice what we preach. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and enhancing our contribution to society through a series of relevant targets that are regularly reviewed, monitored and updated.

The independent New Towns Taskforce met recently in Milton Keynes to agree a series of workstreams for the next 12 months. As they embark on their mission to identify high potential locations, we have given some thought to the planning implications. https://hubs.ly/Q02RCY6b0

Labour’s first Conference in government for 15 years brought with it a clear message that although there is much for the Party to celebrate, now the real work begins. https://hubs.ly/Q02Q_Rnk0

Yesterday three members of Team Scotland Penny Johnstone Hannah Sally and Helen Allan walked 13 miles around Loch Leven alongside 77 people in the development/housebuilding industry in aid of Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). It was a beautiful sunny day to raise funds for this great charity and to catch up with colleagues. £5K has been raised collectively and any further support would be most welcomed. https://lnkd.in/eb5KMKeG CHAS provides palliative care, family respite and support throughout Scotland including dedicated bases in Aberdeen and Inverness.

A beautiful fresh morning for a walk - a number of the IceniProjects #tribe along with some of our clients will be walking 10 miles to raise money for LandAid (the property industry charity, working to end youth homelessness in the UK). We'll be stopping off to admire some of the projects #IceniProjects have been involved with and taking in (what's probably) the last of the sunshine for a while. We'd value your support. Any donations would be very welcome to help those most in need particularly as the colder weather sets in. https://hubs.ly/Q02PPdpG0

Iceni projects is delighted to have co-authored the West Midlands Strategic Employment Sites Study 2023/24 with Mace, Knight Frank and MDS Transmodal Ltd. This sets out recommendations for large scale industrial and logistics sites across the West Midlands looking to 2045 and including the potential release of some 1,000 ha of land to drive economic growth. Whilst it will be for authorities to consider the findings further in their Plan making, the publication is timely regarding the NPPF consultation in terms of an emphasis both on the function of logistics but also in terms of strategic planning. https://lnkd.in/eC8Fnxdm

Iceni's Manchester office attended the Place North West Greater Manchester Development Update last week. It was insightful to hear from a range of speakers discussing what is slowing down development in the region. No surprises that viability and planning were top of the list. Though there was positivity about the potential reforms to the NPPF. Don't forget, the government's consultation closes on the 24th September!
